Little Seedlings Licensed Early Learning Hobby Farm Day Program Open 930-230 pm Monday-Thursday /closed school breaks Little Seedlings Family Day Program

Hello!

Thank you for your interest in my family day program. Whether you’re changing care providers or starting family daycare for the first time, I understand how it can be a big change for both child and parents. I feel it is important for the parents and the provider to have an open and friendly relationship to best meet the needs of the children. My name is Rachel Fredbeck. I’m married and have three children, Austin , Bror, Athena. We have many animals on our farm . I have been caring for people for 19 years. My certificates include ECE Assistant, Personal Support Aide, Nursing Aid Training Course, Foster Parent Preparation, Parenting After Separation, FASD training, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol Training, Medication Administration. I hold all documentation as required by Pacific Care: criminal record check, doctors note, character references and 1st aid. I take numerous workshops on child development, guidance, nutrition, health and safety with a commitment to ongoing professional development. I have a strong connection to community resources through CCRR. We are a licenced facility through the Vancouver Island Health Authority.

Free for parents😍
This is an awesome opportunity for parents. I also take the one for caregivers when it comes up. It explains a lot about attachment and how it works. ❤️❤️❤️

I saw this in another group, and it really resonates with what’s happening in the Comox Valley.
This is the reason I provide quality care to a small number of young individuals in our community. ❤️❤️❤️

QUALITY CHILDCARE’S IN PENTICTON ARE IN DANGER OF CLOSING THEIR DOORS!! We must speak about this and make the community aware of what is happening right before your eyes!

From the owner of two peas in a pod childcare centre in Penticton.

“Where have all the families gone?
For the first time since we opened, I’m looking around our centres and seeing spaces sitting quiet — even in some of our 3–5 programs.

And honestly, it has me asking: What is happening in Penticton?

We are seeing more and more child care spaces being added to our community, while established centres that have been providing quality care for years are finding themselves with empty spaces.

I completely understand the need for accessible and affordable child care. Families deserve options. But I also believe we need to be asking a bigger question:

Are we focusing enough on QUALITY, not just QUANTITY?

Our children deserve more than simply a spot.

They deserve educators who know them, care about them, advocate for them and create environments where they can learn, grow and feel safe. They deserve inclusive programs, meaningful relationships, consistency and educators who are supported and valued enough that they actually want to stay.

Because quality child care doesn't happen by simply adding more buildings and more spaces.

It happens when we invest in the people providing the care.

It happens when educators are supported.

It happens when programs are thoughtfully designed around the needs of the children and families in our community.

Penticton has worked hard to increase the number of child care spaces, and I understand why that goal was important. But as an operator on the ground, I’m now seeing something that I think deserves a conversation:

What happens when we continue adding spaces without making sure there is enough demand to sustain the quality programs already here?

Empty spaces don't just affect businesses. They affect educators, families and the long-term sustainability of quality child care in our community.

Our children deserve the absolute best care we can provide.

Maybe it's time we started asking not just “How many more spaces do we need?”

But also:

“What kind of child care system do we want Penticton to have?”

Because our children deserve quality, stability, inclusion and educators who are genuinely cared for too. ❤️”
