As we entered grazing season this year, we've been asked several times if we add coloring to our butter.

Blossom here, is showing you where the color comes from. Fresh grass grazing. Carotenoids, especially beta-carotene gives that beautiful Guernsey Gold butter it's richer color during the grazing season. Other nutrients such as Vitamin D and K2 also increase during this time.

Guernseys and Jerseys are especially good at producing golden grassfed butter with their naturally high butterfat milk.

Grazing is a much less common method of feeding dairy cows these days but it's something we love and it produces a very special product. Have you tried some Guernsey Gold Butter this spring!?

FARM STORE OPEN TOMORROW!

Many of you have been asking to visit the farm and purchase in person. We are excited to announce that this Saturday Dec 13th, our farm store will be open 10am-3pm! This is only a one day event so don't miss it! Come and say hi to us and the cows. See through the viewing window, into the creamery, where the delicious butter is made!

We have grassfed butter, nitrate free-bacon, allergen friendly sausages, soaps and even some Christmas dinner options like 9-10lb whole organically raised chickens(limited) and some smaller cured boneless hams from our pastured pigs. We also have beef and chicken bones for those nourishing broths and lard for those Christmas pastries!

Also tonight, Dec 12th at 8pm, is the cutoff for shipped butter orders this year. Any orders received after the cutoff will ship in the New Year. Due to flooding in the lower mainland, we will be limiting shipments next week to Vancouver Island and the Vancouver area.

Thank you for your continued support!

BUTTER THEN AND BUTTER NOW!

In 2016 when we started our farm we made it our farm mission to make truly grassfed butter from our small herd of Guernsey cows for ourselves as it was something we couldn't find in stores. Kris, pictured here in his shaggy younger years, is making some of our first Guernsey gold butter with a small churn nearly a decade ago!

Around 5 years ago we hit a crossroads in our farm where we had to make a choice to either pursue meat processing which would allow us to produce enough to meet customer demand and make a living, or pursue dairy processing which included starting a dairy farm from scratch and building our own creamery to process our milk into products! Because of our love for cows and our love for butter, we decided we were ALL IN and committed ourselves to the dairy start up.

2025 was a big year for us, once the construction of the creamery was complete we had to navigate ministry regulations, health authorities and marketing boards. It's been a steep learning curve, and starting up a dairy farm is not for the faint of heart!

The next step is opening our farm store (stay tuned!) and getting our butter onto some store shelves across BC!

Victoria customers can now purchase our butter at Health Essentials at 300 Gorge Road!

If you'd like to grab some of our Grassfed A2A2 butter for those holidays meals or give the gift of butter, orders can continue to be picked up on farm, delivered in the Campbell River and Comox Valley area or shipped BC wide (excluding remote areas).
