UROC Trail Report May 16th:
Welcome to our first long weekend of the 2025 bike season!
The good news is that the trails are in absolute prime shape heading into the weekend. Our trail crew has been out this week working on various trails and getting things prepped for all of the riders heading our way this weekend.
In typical spring mountain weather, it will be a mix of everything over the next couple days. Our area has received a decent amount of rain all week, but we are fortunate that our trails are built to handle the moisture and they drain extremely quickly.
At Pass Powderkeg trails are running great. There is only one patch of snow left on Spare Change as it crosses the ski run, but there is also a newly built alternative line that stays in the trees that is equal parts challenging and fun. All the other trails are hero dirt at the moment. If you are driving up the PPK road to access the lodge parking lot please use some common sense and don’t speed up the road. There are still trail crossings on the road by the water tower, and there will be an increase in riders and families in the area. Using the road is a privilege.
In York Creek the big note for the weekend is that Boulder Dash remains closed while Star Trail Solutions finishes construction on the revamped trail. They have been hard at work and although they have made amazing progress on the trail, it is still too soft to be ridden yet. Boulder dash will re-open soon when the crew is done packing it, and we get some warmer weather to dry it out. All other trails are great at the moment. I don’t think many riders have ventured up to Big Bear yet, but if you are in for an adventure it is always a great pedal up and down. If you are heading that high up, you might as well ride the whole Peaks to Pints challenge from Pass Beer Company and reward yourself with a free beer. The route is posted on our website a uroc.ca/trails.
Have a great weekend, stay dry, have fun.
