Playing with Jude and Balachan's clip! They're all washed, dyed, and coming with me to the Atlantic Fibre Festival this week in Shediac.
I absolutely love my job, but there's so much that happens behind the scenes that people never see. Raising the animals, breeding for quality fleeces, shearing, skirting, sorting, washing, picking, dyeing, spinning, and creating finished yarns—every skein represents countless hours of work, experience, and a whole lot of muscle.
A friend recently got to see part of the process firsthand and has become a full-fledged crusader for my "low-priced luxury yarn." Apparently, watching the work involved makes it very clear that these yarns should cost far more than they do!
But that's always been my goal: farm-grown, thoughtfully produced, high-quality yarn that's still accessible to the people who love working with it.
Now to get these beauties packed up and ready for the festival!
