Feels to early in the year for this + degree weather, and hopefully we dont pay for it later! But especially after our chilly month of February we are not going to complain to loudly. Our calving started off a little rough and on Thursday and we lost our first calf right out of the gate. Thankfully today we found a replacement, and the crew (the kids) seem to approve of her.
Last Tuesday our last sow left for her new home. She was the last of our pigs to go. Hopefully she can carry on raising litters for several more years at her new home.
It's been a busy few weeks. Hope everyone is enjoying this weather! Calving is starting. Stay tuned the next few weeks for baby calf picture's. Hope to have a bunch of new speckles on the ground shortly.

Another gilt off to her new home today. The last of the gilts from the summer litters. All of the males are all headed off on their final journey in a few weeks. Then for the first time in along time farm will be pig free. Here is our boy giving this one a goodbye scratch before her trip south. Thanks to a returning customer for making the trip, we are sure she will give you lots of mini versions of her!

This one is a long one and kind of bitter sweet... So, after several months of contemplation and 7 years of raising pigs and piglets, we have decided to phase out of pigs. Both our breeding stock and feeders. Due to some new land development plans we have for the farm moving forward and a loss of our woodlot infrastructure for the pigs to summer in, we have decided to step back for now. With high hopes of perhaps coming back in a few years' time. We are so grateful to all of our returning and new customers each year that come to the farm to purchase piglets both in the spring and summer it has been alot of fun meeting so many new faces and hearing all of the shared experiences with raiseing these four legged bulldozers. I am also happy to say that many of our breeding stock are ending up at new homes to continue producing litters this spring. Again, it's bitter sweet, but we are looking forward to new things to come. Attached are several photos from the last few years! Thanks again to all for the support that made this so much fun!

PS. We still have some feeders available! If anyone's looking please feel free to message us!

First cold snap over the last night. Nobody seems to be the least bit bothered by the chilly temps. Pigs were already out eating a breakfast of alfalfa this morning. They don't seem to like the stalks, instead they sift out all the leafs leaving only stalks behind
Later this afternoon will be separating off the rest of calves. Will be headed for auction tommarow. Hopefully it warms up just a little for the trip.

It's been way to long since an update. Its been a busy fall and have lots of new things about to start happing round the farm. Have had a little snow show up and disappear in last few days. Today we brought up all the cows and sorted off a group of calves to haul to auction tomorrow. Always good to see how these guys have grown over the summer. All the pigs have also been brought up to the barnyard out of the bush for the winter.
