Big Hero 8 Farm

Big Hero 8 Farm Family farm just outside of Steinbach, selling free-range eggs & spray-free seasonal produce grown with regenerative practices and West Coast Seeds.

We are at the La Broquerie Farm & Community Market weekly over the summer. The name of our farm was inspired by our youngest. When talking about the move we were going to make, from BC to MB, the prospect of chickens on our land (for starters) was a huge bonus. A white chicken who we would call Baymax just had to happen! So followed having Hiro, GoGo, HoneyLemon, Wasabe, and Fred - the original 'B

ig Hero 6'. "But what about Tadashi and Aunt Cass?" she asked. And so here we are, Big Hero 8 Farm. We haven't come from farming families, but we're no strangers to growing good produce on the land we've lived on, and loving our animals well. Our 5 acres with its endless possibilities brings us joy and excitement, as we plant, and grow, and nurture, and learn, and love. We acknowledge that we live and grow on Treaty 1 territory, the land of the Anishinabewaki ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ, the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ, the Michif Piyii (Métis), the Cree, and the Anishininiimowin (Oji-Cree) Peoples.

Unfortunately, the La Broquerie Farm & Community Market has made the hard choice to cancel tomorrow's market, to encourage people to avoid the excessive heat.

This means that we have an excess of medium eggs at the moment. We are going to put them on sale, $7 per flat (30 eggs) or $4.50 per 1½ dozen (18 eggs) while supplies last.

Please message us, or call (204-202-1785) if you are interested.

Good Day everyone.

After trying to rebuild our flock over the last ¾ of a year, we are at a stage where our roosters have grown and shown themselves. Unfortunately, there are too many to support.

We will be selling them off for $4/each. They are between 3 to 6 months old. They are a mix as you can see from the pictures. We have around 20 separated at the moment, but there is more once these are gone.

I would like to thank everyone for the support and understanding for the past few months. It has been a challenging and growing experience that we couldn't have come out of without the family, friends and community that God has blessed us with. There's still a good bit of healing left, but I'm up and limping around, enabling me to get out into the barn.

Our flock is still growing, but we have enough hens to start selling eggs again!
