I was discussing homemade sourdough vs grocery store sourdough on my personal FB. Many were suprised to learn that store bought sourdough contains yeast and does not have the slow ferment benefits. I've since looked at many store sourdough labels and the ingredients contained a lot of preservative and all used yeast to leven. The starter was mainly added as flavoring to give it the sourdough tang without the potential health benefits. This article discusses the differences.
