Last year in mid-season, we seeded flax in this spot and were disappointed when it didn’t sprout. Figuring it was old seed, we seeded it again and once again, it didn’t sprout. Boo.

Looks like it was just waiting patiently for the right conditions, and with so much snow and rain this year, look at this fantastic crop. 😊 The flowers don’t hold up well so we’ll wait until the seeds develop and then use some both fresh and dried. Yay flax!

Flower stand is open again!

We’re stocking the stand with more of our specialty tulips this afternoon and will be open for the rest of today, and tomorrow and Sunday. Tulips open quickly in the heat, so there will be a modest selection of colours and we’ll keep it stocked through the day.

And while we were hoping to have the driveway turnaround ready for this weekend and the stand in its permanent (seasonal) location, we’re making do. Please be careful backing out onto Branch Road!

We’re using the honour system and payment can be made with cash or by e-transfer. Thanks for your continued support and for shopping locally!🌷💐☺️

Thanks a million to everyone who came to visit our new flower stand last weekend! It was the first of many weekends that it will be open.

But…..not this weekend! The cloudy days that we’ve had this week combined with the cool nights means that there’s a slight lull with our tulip harvest. Our greenhouse crops are growing, but not fast enough to have offerings this weekend. Also, a few nice days in the forecast means that heaps seedlings must finally get planted in the field!

We will hopefully have flowers next weekend for you, and have the flower stand in her final summer spot.
