Am I allowed to say this? I’ve been loving my images lately🥰
This spring, I started to strip away everything in my photography work. I went back to the absolute basics. Started shooting in my kitchen on the countertop, with plates and bowls we eat from (my own pottery actually), nothing but beautiful food and my camera - and the skills I’ve built over the years.
I began to find boundless joy and purpose in typing up recipes, connecting again with my writing and sharing in a personal, more vulnerable way. I took my camera outside and even in corners where I wasn’t sure there was beauty, I still found it when I took the time to look.
The person and creative I want to be is emerging so slowly. Much more slowly than I’d like, truthfully, among all the noise it is still sometimes hard to hear myself.
In mindfulness, there is a concept called polishing the mirror and the idea is, you get clarity slowly, gradually. So I let my curiosity guide me and with each image, a bit more is revealed: of my world, and -ultimately- me.
