Every Thursday evening at the farm Victoria leads us in a power yoga class to build strength, find balance, stay playful and feel grounded as the sun goes down.

Highlights:
-Small class sizes with space to spread out.
-Join as a beginner and celebrate your growth!
-Ideal for locals looking for a community to sweat and strengthen with! We're across the street from Brant Hills and a very short drive from Thomas Alton, Mountainside, North Tyandega, and Headon Forest. Tag your neighbour!

Purchase the 4-pass by choosing your 4 dates and the discount is applied at checkout. If your schedule changes or something comes up, just send us an email to reschedule. We're flexible! And hopefully soon you will be too! πŸ§˜πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ§˜πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ§˜πŸ§˜πŸ½β€β™‚οΈπŸ§˜πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

Where to even begin? After a quiet few months navigating my health, I'm getting a newsletter out this month. It's a little more personal than usual, with some reflections on stormy lake days, letting go, and sunbathing chickens. πŸ‚

You'll also find our farm shop's new space and hours, a welcome to photographers, fall yoga classes, and a heads up about bunny yoga pricing changing in December.

Thank you for being here. Read the full newsletter here: - https://mailchi.mp/1a7931bd2b9f/bluedotacres-13528144

I've always loved the energy of "the big room" but now all I want to do is lay on the ground and listen to the outdoor sounds and watch the shadows on the curtains. Honestly, I've never been so excited about curtains🀍

I *think* I've got the website set up for bookings for photographers, creatives, and practitioners to do direct bookings. I'm still learning and there may be changes but it feels good to have this one checked β˜‘οΈ

Looking forward to having more of that healing, creative energy on the farm!

This post is a bit of a PSA. I really enjoy birds. I consider them to be some of my favorite work colleagues. I regularly have my Merlin app open and I've even started reading books about humans and their experiences with wild birds.

It's fall migration season in southern Ontario and there are many birds passing through our area. In the past few days, I've had many little birds on the deck in the morning, looking dead.

Some songbirds travel at night and crash into windows at dawn when the light begins to change. Also, with a large number of "first timers" born this spring or summer, making their way south for the first time, they might be less familiar with windows and glass. Perhaps a bit clumsier too, because they are tired and unfamiliar with the area.

Here are a few things I've found to be helpful when I find stunned birds, keeping in mind I'm not a bird expert.

- If they are on their backs, gently right them again. I'm not sure if this is bird psychology but they seem to understand how to recover when they are back on their feet. If left alone on their backs, they seem less likely to figure out how to right themselves and more likely to "give up".

-Give them a spot to recover that is close to where you found them but out of the rain or strong wind. Birds can lose a lot of heat if they are too stunned to puff out their feathers when they get cold.

-Leave them alone so that you don't add any additional stress. Sometimes they need a longer recovery time than you might think.

From the time I took these pictures this morning, when I had 5 little birds in my care, only one remains and that last one now has bright, alert eyes and more energy. Such a relief!

A personal update from me, Erin🧑

Hello! Here it is: My health has been unpredictable and for months I haven't been able to work in the ways I would like to. I feel all kinds of conflicting feelings around that. In an effort to be proactive, I'm making some changes on the farm. While I feel sad to be navigating health issues, I feel excited about these changes on the farm and I hope you will too!

Are you looking for something special to do with the kids this weekend to celebrate back to school?

But you need to keep it gentle and soft to give your nervous system a chance to exhale after all the excitement?

We have a family yoga with bunnies happening this Saturday morning at 10am with Tova from ReFrame Family Yoga

The class will be playful, gentle, and a great way to connect πŸ€πŸ‡πŸ€

Tickets available on our website under events.

I noticed this little bee working beside me early this morning. I loved watching it work.

Chicory isn't a native plant but it seems to be a good food source for pollinators, along with the native plants that have adapted to our Southern Ontario heatwaves!
