Let’s call this the frosty wiener discount!

We had a near miss, the freezer door was left open a crack, humid air and freezing temps make for some frost! Nothing thawed out but we can’t sell these as a premium, so if you want discounted sausage that is still perfect get your orders in asap they won’t last long.

Buy 2 for an even better deal.

My kind of therapy.

Seems like everybody is chasing the next thing these days.
Lately, I’ve found myself appreciating the simple stuff more.

Watching a calf hit the ground
hearing a whip-poor-will call at dusk.
Sitting by the pond and watching a few goldfish disappear into the water.

Planting a tree I’ll probably never sit under.
Building things a little better than they were yesterday.

Maybe I’m getting old, but that’s enough for me.

This morning we woke up to no power.

It wasn’t a big deal. The coffee still got made(a little bit slower). The animals still got fed. The day still moved forward.

But it was a good reminder of how much we take for granted.

We’re grateful for the people who keep the lights on. The crews who work through storms. The people who maintain roads, deliver fuel, keep grocery shelves stocked, and keep communities running when most of us are still asleep.

We’re grateful for clean water, warm coffee, tractors that start, fences that hold, and a farm that gives us a reason to get out of bed every morning.

We’re grateful for our family, for the lessons this life teaches us, and for the chance to raise her surrounded by animals, open fields, and hard work that means something.

We’re grateful for our cows, pigs, chickens, goats, geese, dogs, barn cats, and all the chaos that comes with them.

We’re grateful for our customers who choose to support a local farm, our wholesale partners who believe in what we’re building, and every person who follows along with our journey.

Most of all, we’re grateful for another day.

Not every day is easy. Not every day goes according to plan. But days like today remind us just how much we already have.

Take a minute this morning and think about one thing you’re grateful for.

Sometimes we all need a break. Some people just find it in different places. Is this an ideal break for you??

A few weeks ago, these geese showed up in our lives, and at the time we weren’t sure they were something we needed. Turns out we were completely wrong.

Our little farmer has become a pretty awesome mother goose.

Now her and her gaggle of geese spend their days patrolling the farm together. 😂

If humans parented like cows, society would collapse 😂

One thing about cows: they WILL panic after forgetting where they parked their baby.

Meanwhile calves are just laying in the grass like:
“mom relax I was literally right here.”

Have you ever had pork that was actually raised outside on pasture?

Most people haven’t.

A lot of pork today is raised as fast and efficiently as possible. But when pigs actually get to root, graze, move around, and live outside, it changes the meat more than people realize.

You can see it in the colour.
You can see it in the fat.
And you can taste the difference right away.

Sunlight, grass, fresh air, forage, movement… all of it matters.

Most commercial pork is finished in around 5–6 months. Ours take longer and are raised slower outdoors.

And honestly, we think you can tell.

I could listen to this sound all day 🫠

POV: farm kids are built different.

Amelia insisted on carrying the bird feed herself because apparently we’re now in Mom’s “bird girl era” 😂

She made it almost all the way to the truck giving 100% effort… then ended up laying on the bag because it finally won.

Honestly though, that’s still a win.

Farm kids learn early:

* trying matters
* helping matters
* hard work matters
* and sometimes failing after giving everything you have is still something to be proud of.

Thanks to the girls Barclay Dick & Son Farm Supplyfor supporting this habit, and for everything thing else you guys do for us every year❤️

Anyone else noticing WAY more ticks this year?

The littlest farmer had this behind her ear, luckily it was only there for a few minutes❤️

We’re finding them constantly already. Dogs, pant legs, fence lines, tall grass. They seem worse than normal this spring around here.

What’s everyone actually using that works?

Trying to keep the family, dogs, and animals protected this year because they’re definitely out early and aggressive already.
