INSIDE THE GLASS, Featuring Tokyo Drift IPA

Each week we’ll be featuring one of our many b**rs we have on tap in both Argyle and McCullough’s to provide our members with some backstory into their favourite b**rs. This week, take a look inside the glass of the Tokyo Drift IPA from

The story of Last Best’s Tokyo Drift takes us all the way back to 2015 when the head brewer at the time issued a challenge to his brew team. Create a new IPA to rival their first offering, which became known as IPA #2. Although IPA #2 was delicious, the brew team countered the challenge back to the head brewer who created IPA #3, what is now known as Tokyo Drift. Now a core b**r at Last Best Brewing.

At the time Tokyo Drift was created, it went against the traditional norms of what an IPA was, focusing less on the clear caramel colours and bitterness from the hops. This was a b**r that was hazy, getting its pronounced colours from yeast, with lower bitterness and sweeter undertones. The b**r incorporates hops not traditionally used in North American IPA’s, and used hop varieties like Australian, New Zealand, and Citra. The b**r also used oats in the grain bill, which is not traditional for this style of b**r.

The infamous name for the b**r, Tokyo Drift, came from it being the 3rd installment to Last Bests’ franchise, like Tokyo Drift was to the Fast and Furious franchise. Just like the movie, it came with a cast of new characters, marking the dawn of a new era for the company.

We brought the ocean to the Ballroom at The Glencoe Club with our “Tide to Table” long table dinner! From the rich flavors of seafood chowder and lobster potato salad to the indulgence of buttermilk fried chicken and scallop & lobster corn dogs, every dish was a celebration of coastal cuisine. Our guests enjoyed an unforgettable evening filled with laughter, good company, and a bountiful feast served family style. Here’s to more nights of great food and even greater memories!

💕 The month of love begins next week!

Celebrate at The Glencoe Club on February 11th with our Valentine’s Dinner & Teddy Bear’s Picnic event where you and your Valentine will enjoy a romantic 5-course dinner in the Ballroom with live music from while your children are next door in the Club Room’s having a Teddy Bear’s Picnic themed movie night with snacks!

Glencoe W**e Festival 2022 🍷

With the shutdown of the Ballroom in 2019 to commence the construction of the Main Course, followed by a couple of years of COVID restrictions, the highly anticipated return of Glencoe W**e Festival could not come soon enough, that wait finally came to an end on Friday, November 4th, 2022!

The Ballroom doors opened to 200 members in attendance sampling over 50 spectacular w**es from around the globe presented by 12 agencies, accompanied by lavish live action food stations to tantalize their taste buds.

The top 3 w**es of the evening voted on by the members, which will appear on the w**e menu in Argyle Kitchen + Patio as well as McCullough’s Pub & Social House are:

🍷 Monte del Frà Amarone Lena Classico Della Valpolicella DOCG 2017

🍷 L'Etoile de Pomerol 2018, Bordeaux

🍷 Leviathan Red – Napa Valley, California

Glencoe W**e Festival will be back and is sure to be an annual event, see you in 2023!
