Well this is a wrap for My Mini Farm Adventures
This was an adventure that I poured my heart and soul into, and I hope to one day reignite the passion I had for this lifestyle, this journey. For life can take us on many paths and we have to learn to walk each one with as much joy and happiness even if it wasn’t the plan.
Thank you for your kindness you have shown us, and I hope to see you again one day soon.

Propagating a pomegranate from a fellow Canadian!
And look 👀 there is a baby pomegranate already!!!! I want to keep it growing, but think I should allow the plant to focus on root growth this year, and hopefully next year it will try again!

What do you have in your garden this year?
I have found that I want to grow it all, but as the first true year of being on this property I have had to place other projects higher up on the priority list. Still all beneficial to us, but long term goals have been set. Planting windbreaks will help the property to grow a better garden, planting fruit trees and bushes will also benefit the land, as well as the pollinators! I still jumped the wagon on starting lots of plants indoor in the late winter, and now I am hustling to figure out where to place them and to find the time for that as well!

Planting a garden can save you thousands of dollars a year in groceries if done correctly. With the cost of groceries going up I am here give you ideas on wh...

Another great idea to implement when planting a shelterbelt!

We're going to go out on a limb (see what we did there??) and guess that you've got a lot of banana boxes?

Well, Farmtwo53 has a brilliant solution to make the best use of boxes while planting new trees and shrubs 🙌:

"Most locations on the Prairies struggle growing trees due to Wind, Water, Wildlife, and Weeds. At Farmtwo53 we are taking care of 3 of the 4 W’s.
The box sides shelter our new food forest shrubs from winds.
They cover the soil to help retain moisture.
They cover the soil to suppress w**d and grass pressure.

We use sticks to stake the boxes to the ground and then fill the bottom with bark mulch. In 2 or 3 years of exposure to the elements, the cardboard will break down and become part of the biomass. By that time we hope the trees are well on their way to success."

Do you have some other innovative uses for boxes? Send them our way!
