It’s that time of the week! Some beautiful bottles touched down in store this week and we couldn’t be more thrilled!

Some great b**r from 3fonteinen and cocktails from suntoryglobal will help to get your weekend off to a flying start 🤩 and if vermouth is your sipper of choice, the range from vermouthdolincl should do just the trick 😋

And it wouldn’t be the weekend without some fine wh**ky too! We’ve got two newcomers from The GlenAllachie that we can’t wait to try, as well as a beautiful smoky dram from Turntable Spirits 💨🥃

And for anyone hunting down something extra special, this 45yo from Port Askaig Wh**ky really is just that 😍

And a quick heads up! We have some INCREDIBLE tastings happing in store on Friday and Saturday, so the store will be closing early both nights to accommodate these 🎉

8 WHISKIES - ONE TASTING - NEARLY 500 YEARS OF LIQUID HISTORY

We are closing the Rare & Old Wh**ky Weekend with the most epic tasting we have ever hosted at Kensington W**e Market.

It has taken six years of patience to pull this off. Starting in 2020 we squirrelled away a bottle of each successive Mr. George release, including the Mr. George Centenary Edition, in anticipation of one day putting on an insane once in a lifetime tasting. We will sample all 5 Glen Grants from the Mr. George Legacy Series, as well as the Mr. George Centenary Edition, the MacPhail’s 50 Year, (which may have a connection to the others), and a surprise 8th wh**ky to be revealed the night of the tasting. To the best of our knowledge, no one in the world has put together such a lineup before. We will pour 497 years of wh**ky with a retail value of more than $80,000.00, to celebrate the legacy of the Godfather of single malt, Mr. George Urquhart. Who better tell Mr. George’s story than his grandson, Richard Urquhart?

Our rare and old festival is less than a week away and we couldn’t be more excited!! 🤩

With over 60 whiskies aged 25-58 years old, many of them from closed distilleries, this is one that will live long in the memory. And with food from peasant_cheese, and a cut crystal Glencairn glass for you to take home, this event is a must-attend.

For most wh**ky enthusiasts, the opportunity to sample a wh**ky from a closed distillery is a rare treat. In this once-in-a-lifetime tasting, you’ll have the opportunity to sample 8 of them aged 32 to 50 years of age, with a collective retail value of more than $80,000.00. Most of the distilleries featured in this range closed in the early 1980s, never to open again, with bottlings of their wh**ky increasingly rare. Some distilleries, like Port Ellen, were revived and given a second chance; though we can debate whether it is truly the same wh**ky. Gordon & MacPhail have the most extensive stocks of closed distillery whiskies of anyone in the Scotch industry, so there is no one better than Richard Urquhart to tell the story of some of Scotland’s greatest treasures.

1 WEEK UNTIL THE RARE & OLD WH**KY FESTIVAL

Our 2nd Rare & Old Wh**ky Festival will feature no fewer than 45 whiskies aged 25-58 years Old, along with a handful of younger ones which meet the definition of Rare. The average age of all whiskies being poured is 34.7 years, and the lineup is almost entirely new, with just 2-3 repeats from the 2024 Rare & Old Festival.

The event is three hours long to give participants time to savour the drams on offer, and engage with experts and other connoisseurs in a relaxed environment. Participants will receive a custom-cut crystal Glencairn glass and also have the opportunity to sample at least one of 6 Super Pours. To elevate the experience, we will also offer gourmet food well above and beyond our regular festival fare!

The last Rare & Old Festival was in 2024, it takes time to amass a lineup such as this. It might be another couple of years before we do it again!
