Sandy Hill Charollais Producing top quality registered Charollais breeding stock using imported UK semen. MV Negative & GenOvis Recorded Flock.

Sandy Hill Charollais is owned by Gavin and Isabelle Nicol, located near the small hamlet of Markerville in central Alberta. We currently run 60 purebred breeding ewes, focusing on quality. All our ewes are bred by AI, using semen from the top performing Charollais rams in the UK. Our flock is Maedi Visna negative, tested annually, and we also scrapie genotype our flock annually. We enrolled onto

the GenOvis program this year. We breed quality Charollais with lots of length, gigot and loin, and carefully select our AI rams in the UK for these traits. Our Charollais are raised on a forage based system, feeding very little grain. That is why we ONLY raise Charollais.

This ram lamb or his twin brother could be heading to Pictou NS this summer. Their dam Sandy Hill Jasmine 66J is one of our top performing ewes. He is sired by Sandy Hill Maverick 51M (UK ram Knockin Undercover Brother). He doesn’t have a black mark on top of his shoulder, it’s💩 🙈.

Turk decided to misbehave among this group of hoggs. He wasn’t really listening to me but when Loki barked at him, he sure paid attention and backed off right away. Loki has taken him under his wing but Thor just keeps out of his way.
