Ate Cedie in Canada Sharing the life we're building here in Canada 🇨🇦

I thought I just needed more willpower.

But after years of fasting, I realized that the routine around my meals mattered too—how often I ate, how much fibre I was getting, and how supported I felt between meals.

These simple changes helped me go from being stuck at 63–65 kg to maintaining 59 kg.

I made a simple two-page guide explaining exactly what I did.

Send me a message and I’ll send it to you. 🤍

*This is my personal experience. Results may vary.*

This is why I started paying attention to my insulin response.

Every time we eat, insulin rises. That is normal. But when we eat too frequently, especially foods that spike us quickly, insulin may barely get the chance to return to baseline before the next meal or snack comes in.

Over time, that can mean louder cravings, energy crashes, harder fat loss, and a higher risk of insulin resistance.

It’s not always a willpower problem. Sometimes, you first have to understand what your body is responding to.

Study your insulin response. It can make your weight-loss struggle make so much more sense. 🤍

Akala ko dati, weight loss was simply about eating less.

Pero kapag lagi kang hungry, craving, bloated, and thinking about food all day, ang hirap maging consistent. For me, the biggest shift happened when I started focusing on habits that support a more balanced insulin response and less inflammation.

I lost 6kg, pero mas importante, hindi na ako controlled by food. Wala nang emotional eating, less cravings, and sobrang reduced na ng food noise.

Message mo ako to know exactly how i did it!

Weight loss is not always just about eating less. Insulin response, cravings, food noise, and inflammation can all affect how easy (or difficult) it feels to lose weight.

For me, the goal was to build meals and habits that support a steadier insulin response, so hindi ako laging gutom, naghahanap ng matamis, or emotionally eating. Insulin resistance and excess weight are closely connected, while obesity-related inflammation may also worsen insulin resistance.

I lost 6kg, but more importantly, I feel like I finally fixed my relationship with food. Less food noise, reduced cravings, and wala na yung feeling na lagi akong nakikipaglaban sa sarili ko.

Want to know what I did? Message me. 🤍

One thing I love about living in Alberta is that you can wake up early, drive to Banff, and start your day surrounded by views like this. 🏔️

We arrived at Tunnel Mountain around 7 AM, feeling fresh and ready to hike.

Pero bakit yung lakad pa lang from the lower parking to the upper parking, nakakahingal na? Laylay dila agad kami. HAHAHA! If you know, you know! 😆

Thankfully, it was a short and beginner-friendly hike, with a very sweet treat waiting at the top, beautiful views of Banff, the mountains, and the town below.

May mga kasabay din kaming kids na umaakyat, so na-pressure tayo nang very light. 😂

Short hike, big reward. Definitely worth waking up early for. 🤍

🇵🇭 > 🇨🇦WHY DID WE CHOOSE TO MOVE TO CANADA?

Before Canada, may buhay na kami sa Pilipinas.

I started my business in 2019. We had a few employees, a fleet of distributors, and several clients who trusted us to create and manufacture products for their own brands. My husband, meanwhile, was already working as an electrical engineer.

We were not rich. Hindi rin naman kami tagapagmana. 😂 But we were busy, productive, and slowly building something of our own.

So, why leave? 🤧

We moved to Canada in 2022. I came here under a student visa, while my husband had an open work permit.

When COVID hit, we were confined inside our house for two weeks. Walang pwedeng dumalaw. Walang pwedeng lumabas. Walang anything. Naalala ko pa yung mga brgy leaders namin, nag iiwan ng grocery sa tapat ng gate. 😆 I saw them once, grabeng takbo huy, allergic yarn? 😆 But it was very thoughtful of them, tho.

For two weeks, the world outside us practically stopped.

And somewhere in that silence, something hit us:

There has to be more to life than what we currently have.

Not because our life in the Philippines was bad. In fact, we had so many things to be thankful for. But we were still young. We had no children yet. We still had time to take risks, make mistakes, and rebuild if we needed to.

We thought, if we survive covid (grabe nakaka anxiety din talaga nung mga time na yon), maybe we can also try to create a better future for ourselves and for the children we hope to have someday.

So we moved. Tinapangan.

Not because we hated the Philippines. Not because we wanted to abandon the life we had built there. And definitely not because we thought life abroad would be easy.

We simply wanted to know what else was possible for us.

And Canada has been very kind to us! 🥺

Patient, too, while we were learning, adjusting, and rebuilding our lives here from the ground up. Hindi naman kami yumaman overnight. Nilamig lang kami agad. 😂

I love the Philippines. It is where I was born, where I lived most of my life, and where I built my first business.

But I also love, love Canada.

This country gave us room to start again without asking us to erase who we were before we came here.

Until today, we continue to keep and manage our business in the Philippines remotely. The life we are building in Canada does not cancel the life we built back home.

They can exist together.

And that is one of the reasons I created this page, Ate Cedie in Canada.

I want this page to show that there is no single playbook for how you should live abroad.

You can build a career here while managing a business back home. You can begin again without pretending that your previous life never existed. You can love your new country without loving your home country any less.

Leaving does not always mean abandoning everything behind.

Sometimes, it simply means making more room for the life you still want to build.

This is our story, and we are still somewhere in the middle of it. 🤍
