Wishing everyone a wonderful new year (It’s still January so I’m allowed even if a bit delayed😉) I hope you had a good holiday season.

The past few months have been pretty quiet since leaving the farmers market and not having a processing schedule. There are a few changes to how I am going to operate moving forward.

Firstly, meat sales will be done through farm gate. My aim is to send out an email on a monthly basis to let you know what I have. You can come to the farm and pick up or a scheduled meet up point on the south side of Edmonton. Unfortunately I can’t manage deliveries.

On that note, watch for an email coming out this week on what I will have available.

Secondly, I have made the personal decision to leave Facebook. I will stay on Instagram for the time being so you can follow me there. However, most of my communication will be through the website. You will find all my contact information there. If you want to be included on the emails head over there and reach out to me.

This is the last weekend for me at Old Strathcona Farmers' Market. After 22 years life changes direction.

Still have a wonderful selection of sausages and steaks. But come and grab what you can while you can.

After 25 years of providing top quality bison meat to the community around me, I am stepping back from marketing meat...for a while. As part of this decision I will be leaving the Old Strathcona Farmers' Market at the end of September.

Personally I have been part of that market for 42 years and selling my meat for the past 22 years. I started there in 1984 as a small child when my parents operated a market garden. Then in 2003 it was a natural progression to add bison meat to the stall when I started my herd.

Current circumstances and my desire to venture down a new road has led to this decision. I am not getting out of raising bison and will slowly get back into marketing meat but in a different form. The last few years have been a challenge and as a result I am in a position where I simply don't have the supply of animals. The group of young bison I have at the moment that would provide a consistent supply of meat will be another year until they are ready. I will have the odd animal available in the mean time but for now this is what I have to do.

Having said all that, I do still have some wonderful products available for purchase at the market. My last day there will be Sunday, September 28th so come down and stock your freezer while supplies last. Or reach out to me directly by phone or text. Also, as I have product available I will send out an email to let customers know what I have. If you would like to be included on that please send me a message with your name and email.

I want to thank everyone for your support over the years. I am proud to have been able to provide quality bison meat to my community for all these years and not compromise my values and integrity in doing so. I hope to serve you again in the future. Keep and eye out for announcements.

With best regards,
Larissa

It is a privilege to be able raise and work with these animals. The only way that can happen is by respecting who they are and understanding they are not ‘big fluffy cows’

Learning to take a break. Never fished before so I caught my first ever fish. 🎣🐟

Farming is 24/7 365 days a year if you let it. I’m figuring out if you don’t go you’ll never go. So I did a bit of an experiment with my boyfriend this year. Leave right during the middle of hay season.

We survived!! Came home and the farms were still here. Now we can keep going a bit refreshed.

Thank you to for an amazing couple of days and being so patient with a complete newbie.
