Ever wonder what actually happened to wild salmon after farms were removed from a place like the Discovery Islands?

Nothing. Sea lice rates on wild pink and chum salmon stayed unchanged, before and after. That's not our opinion, it's what DFO data and a 2023 peer reviewed study in the Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences found.

Here's another one people get backwards: Wild salmon didn't decline because farms showed up. Many of those rivers were already in trouble, from overfishing, dams, and habitat loss, long before farming existed. Correlation isn't causation, and the timeline proves it.

And the "record collapse" story doesn't hold up globally either. There are more Pacific salmon in our ocean today than at almost any point in the last century. What's actually shifting the numbers is a warming Pacific, pushing fish north into cooler water.

We know "just go on land" sounds like the easy fix. In practice it means replacing what the ocean does for free with massive amounts of fresh water, land, and power, and that energy demand is a much heavier footprint than most people picture.
