These guys were out for a rip, from Ontario. They arrived seconds after a MASSIVE dump of rain, and were excited to get a selection of beers to enjoy down at their site at Herring Cove Provincial Park, Parc Provincial de l'Anse Herring. They’re the second motorcycle crew we’ve had this year, and they got real creative with fitting the beers AND ice in their side bags. (Video in our stories).

Are you visiting Campobello this summer? If so where are you coming from?

“Will you be open on X day???” Is a question we get often. Since the brewery is well, 3 feet from our house, we are open every day, and our hours are consistent, mostly.

10am until (at least) 8pm.

A few time this past weekend, including last night, we just left the open sign on since we had stuff to do, so why not? These lovely humans were cruising back to their campsite Herring Cove Provincial Park, Parc Provincial de l'Anse Herring and saw the neon OPEN sign so swung in. They ended up getting the last can of the Czech Dark Lager… so another style bits the dust!!!

So swing by between 10am and 8pm to get some cans of a style you like before it’s gone forever, or try your luck and cruise by after official hours to see see if we’re burning the midnight oil!!!

Cheers to all of you lovely humans!!

Today was CRAZY!!!

We got a new batch of Dark Mild canned, then got totally destroyed by runners!! We hit a new daily sales record… 218 cans today!!! 🤯🤯🤯

Thank you to everyone who stopped by today; new friends, familiar faces, and people with fun stories and silly vibes!

Good luck to all the Bay of Fundy International Marathon runners tomorrow!!!

More runners stopped by this afternoon, and they grabbed the final two cans of our Dortmund Export Lager!! I jokingly told them that it was the law for us to get photos with anyone who buys the final cans of a style, and the excitement they all brought to this photo was over the top (in a good way).

If that level of hype carries into Sunday you might very well be looking at some of the winners of this years race… I guess we shall see! Either way we will be cheering all our new friends on!!! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃

Replacing the Dortmund on the shelf will be another Amber lager call The Old Bear, which will be our second last lager of the summer season. Any idea what the final lager might be? Hint… it’ll be out early August…

The Bay of Fundy International Marathon is quickly approaching, and runners are already arriving!! Sunday morning bright and early runners will be running from the USA side, to Canada, and back again, for one of only two active international marathons between Canada and USA.

We are releasing this beer specially for the Marathon, our Border Runner Blonde. One day Laura will draw the label for us, but for now you’ll have to use your imagination… picture… a woman in a racing bib, running along Route 774, behind her… a CBSA vehicle up on two wheels, with an officer hanging out the high-side window, yelling into an old school cone-style megaphone, “BORDER RUNNER!!!”

There would also beer deer, and lupins, and a lighthouse in the background. Instead of inserting this into an AI prompt, I’ll wait for Laura to draw it.

It will be available starting Saturday, so swing by for this limited release!

We have a new head brewer this season… phew… I’ll be able to just kick back and relax now. 😉 hahahaha-Zoltan.

Today, believe it or not, we are one year old! It seems simultaneously like the year flew by, and also like we have been doing this for a decade already, based on how tired we are feeling (little baby Hazen may or may not have something to do with that 😜).

Since last fall we have been planning to have a beer garden for this year. We had wanted a celebration, with music from our friends, and a gathering in the grass next to the garden… however due to the Canadian border disallowing the porta-potty-toilet-pumper guy from getting his license to come to the island this year, and us having to pivot, convince the province of NB that a holding tank wouldn’t be dangerous, and trying to find and convince people to do the work on a predictable schedule… we have nothing but open trenches to show you, and cans to go for the time being.

Either way, this past year has been filled with high highs and low lows, and so so so many amazing stories, incredible humans, growth, learning, and a whole hell of a lot of commercial imports at the Canadian border.

Yesterday we got a call from a woman from Maine who was at our launch party last year, and she specifically requested six cans of the Dark Mild, a British style that felt a bit risky to launch with since it’s mostly unknown, but I didn’t care. While we enjoy experimenting, trying new styles, and keeping things exciting and new here, there are a couple we have repeated, and the Dark Mild has been one of them that many of you have grown to love.

We have a tank of it ready to can this coming week, but since she asked so nicely, with her British accent, I created a six pack for her, which felt more than fitting for our understated one-year anniversary ‘party’.

We have lots to share with you this season, and maybe if we all cross our collective fingers we can enjoy a beer together next to the garden before the snow flies!!

Thank you to all of you for believing in us, supporting us, and sharing your stories from all across the continent and beyond with us!

The Ol’ Mother Mushroom is here to stay, so come on down! 🤗

There she goes.. the first sell out of the season… our Rowan Lager, made with 75lbs of hand-picked local Rowan/Mountain Ash berries, harvested last fall, has officially sold out!!

Yesterday I (Zoltan) was on the excavator for much of the day getting a trench in for the power company today, so between managing our household, making food, changing diapers, and managing nap times, Laura and Little Hazy ran the shop. I saw these folks took a nice long stop, and Laura was so excited to tell me all about them when I got finished.

Izzy and Max came up from Virginia, and we were humbled to learn that we were one of their most anticipated stops on their trip up here!!! Max works at Triple Crossing Beer, and they are both big enthusiasts of local craft beer. The Rowan Lager was definitely an experimental batch that many have loved, so it seems more than fitting that the final two cans of this, likely unrepeatable beer, went to these lovely humans!!!

Until next time… 🍻🍻🍻

It’s Spruce-tip time, baby!!!

Laura is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to everything plant and animal related, I guess that happens when you have an Ecology (Botany/Zoology) degree, as well as two years of herbalism apprenticeship under your belt!! I (Zoltan) on the other hand went to the university of Life, haha, and have spent a lot of time around social media during the decade I managed, booked, and toured with bands across North America.

We had to film this three times because it was incredibly difficult for Laura to keep her excitement about plants under the required one minute cut off. Haha. One day we’d LOVE to host workshops here and teach you all about the things she knows! For now, here’s a minute video about spruce tips. You can expect this beer on shelves in early July. :)

Shout out to Timm for bringing us this recipe last summer. :)

Yesterday was an oddly busy day, for a Tuesday in May. The highlight was getting a visit from one of the New England’s OG craft brewers, and his daughter.

Raymond McConnell, left, started Emerald Isle Brew Works in the 90’s when legislation in many parts of Canada (I know more of the Canadian history) and the USA made it impossible to craft brew due to minimum production volumes being absurdly high, minimums that only Molson and the American equivalents could manage to hit.

It’s people like Ray who paved the way for people like us. Without their diligent effort challenging policies, fighting the system of big-beer-distribution, and taking massive financial risks to invest in a product they believed in what we are doing would have never been possible!

New Brunswick currently has no minimum production requirement, which is one of the main reasons I was excited to start a brewery here. We can focus on truly small batches, work with ingredients around us, and experiment with dozens of styles a year, instead of being forced into mass production of a handful of styles. Our pal Spencer over at Naiad County Brewery has talked about the importance of not forgetting that beer is an agricultural product, and we couldn’t agree more with him! It always was a product that ebbed and flowed with the seasons, and we are committed to doing our best to showcase that in what we do here.

After ten years in business, due to financial pressures, Ray closed doors, but his son took the equipment and went on to brew at Kennebec River Pub & Brewery for years. It’s amazing to see all the connections through breweries in the region, on both sides of the border.

Here’s to many more stories that will be told and shared this summer season!!!
