Welcome to the Farm!

Rainy days.
Chicken chores.
All the smiles.

Jeff and I said to each other today, we just love keeping chickens. They make us so happy. We hope that you enjoy seeing them as well! June has officially added ‘checking on the chickens’ to her list of things to do every morning. I guess it’s a family event now.

Since they’ve been home, we have moved the tractors twice per day. It will take them no time at all to get through this pasture. You can really see signs of the old Saskatoon hedges that used to be here, 20ish years ago.

One of our main goals is to increase organic matter in this area, increase soil permeability so it will hold more moisture and to feed our fluff butts fresh forage every day.

Huge shout out to for these mobile chicken tractors. They are handling the wind like a champ!

Did you know that you can stay at the farm?

Check out The Marigold Bunkie, our super cute cabin is perfect for a quick weekend getaway to be surrounded by nature or to treat yourself to a local summer retreat.

Family friendly! Bring your kiddos, the bunkie can sleep four. Clean outdoor shower and composting toilet.

Fun things to do around the farm:
• Walk our 1km loop around the beautiful farm
• Pick Saskatoons
• Canoe or Kayak (lifejackets provided)
• Eat alfresco for every meal
• Unplug and recharge
• Learn about regenerative farming
• Explore the rich culture in Camrose!

Planting, planting, planting…with the cutest little addition to the farm. Shadow/Baby Boo, is never more than a sneeze away from us. “Helping” in the garden and keeping us company.

We have been planting and seeding non stop. Here I am planting in our new cut flower garden up closer to the house, less windy here for the flowers. We will be growing all sorts of fresh florals this year for our flower CSA the farmstand.

May so far!

We have been busy here at Marigold Meadows. Planting, seeding and prepping beds everyday. Irrigation is hooked up, our awesome volunteers are helping in the garden, we have a new little mischief maker (Shadow/Baby Bamboo) and the Marigold Bunkie has been booking up! 🤩

Just for fun, here’s what has gone into the ground so far:

900lbs Potatoes
500’ Peas
1600’ Beets
2600’ Carrots
400’ Mixed Greens and Head Lettuce
800’ Spinach
200’ Radish
200’ Arugula
5000 Onions
800 Leeks
650 Broccoli
600 Kohlrabi
250 Kale

Starting the transition to no till. Slower start but should be less work next spring. We have some beds covered so that we don’t have to worry about weeds growing. This weekend we start planting out the brassicas cabbages kale, etc. and we also are going to plant out onions. Stay tuned for more fun at Marigold Meadows Farm.
