Today is my 34th birthday. If you’ve seen me at the farmers market lately you’ve probably noticed I’ve been growing more than just vegetables this year. Me and Lloyd are excited to announce that we’re expecting a baby boy later this fall. Thankful for my farm team and all the support around us as we enter into this new phase of life.

Harvesting potatoes today. My Lower Wolfville neighbours were ready to part with their 1 row Grimme and I had to have it. We ran it today for the first time and it works well. I should mow the weeds down for the next time we need more potatoes picked. We do so much work on our hands and knees, it’s nice to have a piece of equipment that keeps us on our feet.

This is the latest I can remember that I haven’t planted my potatoes yet. A few reasons why but mostly because it’s been raining a lot the past month. Thankfully my neighbours were selling their old seed cutter that has sped up the process for us.

I love being able to pick kale in the greenhouse in the winter. The sun shining makes it warm and there’s no wind on you. We will have green curly kale and black dinosaur kale at the Wolfville Farmers' Market tomorrow.
