“Last year’s harvest feels like it was only a few weeks ago, yet here we go again! 2026 is already shaping up to be a year to remember. While we’re running a little behind compared to last year, we’re confident the rewards are just around the corner.
Summer began with intense heat, followed by generous rain and high humidity. The vineyard canopy is lush and heavy, which has kept us busy with careful, timely protection against the threat of fungal disease—always a tough battle in these conditions. The clusters are colouring slowly and sporadically, but the recent cool nights will accelerate the process.
Right now, our top priority is netting the vines. There is a lot of ground to cover, and the starlings—pretty but persistent—are already circling, eyeing their next meal. Once other local crops are harvested, our grapes become the main attraction for these flocks, which show up by the thousands. We’re also keeping an eye out for raccoons; they are elusive, and their tracks tell us they’ve arrived with big appetites.
The new vintage is officially underway and looking excellent. Only once the juice is safely in the tanks will we finally be able to stop for a breath, pop a bottle of sparkling w**e, and celebrate.”
