He does have some dark on his front right foot.

The boys jumped out of bed when we told them it was time. A very fast delivery and just like a textbook, with Chapter cleaning, the foal getting an e***a and passing his meconium and him getting up to suck within an hour. Chapter loved having them there with her.

We think tonight may be the night! She has a lot more wax than yesterday and her legs are wet from milk dripping.
Wax on a mare’s teats is actually accumulation of sticky colostrum that appears 24-48 hours before foaling although some mares don’t follow that rule! (Cough, Rose, Cough!).
Labor is imminent and the boys can’t wait!

A beautiful frosty morning on the farm. ❄️

One might look at this mare and think that she must be cold, but this is actually the opposite. The frost or snow on a horse’s back, is proof that their thick winter coat is doing its job perfectly. This means their coat is providing excellent insulation and keeping their body heat in.

Usually our barn is at full capacity and we don’t have any room in stalls. We had a couple empty stalls this year, as one mare is away getting broke and we sold a few. These two got to come in and be out of the elements. Priest Welsh Final Rose (aka Phil) and Priest Welsh Bluebird.
***Clydesdales have thick coats and do well in cold weather if they have everything they need.

An actual snow day for the boys! Schools are closed and dad is home too. Enjoying a nice day inside except when it comes to chores. 😅. Horses still need fed, water and cleaned out twice a day.
We are counting down the days until we are on foal watch for Tucker’s mare, Priest Welsh Next Chapter from Priest Welsh Rockstar.
