This post is long but we hope you take the time to read.
Not everyone will get fed.... that's the unfortunate truth, but there's lots of great people and organizations trying to change that! People like Troy and Jason from Field2Field have been making it part of their everyday business to do what they can to help.
Troy and Jason from Field2Field Agronomy, a full-service agronomy consulting company based out of Miami, made the decision to once again support The Lighthouse Mission.
They purchased another steer at the Carman Area 4-H Beef Clubs sale in early July from a Miami 4-H Beef Club member. These members from all three of the clubs put in plenty of hours and effort to raise their steers and lambs into high-quality market animals, teaching them lessons along the way, but not without reward, as they're able to sell their animals to community members and businesses who love supporting the local youth.
Field2Field has used this as an annual opportunity to not only help a local 4-H member but hundreds more by doing something selfless with the steer they purchased; they have turned around and donated the whole steers worth of ground beef to Lighthouse Mission at 669 Main Street, Winnipeg. With this donation, Lighthouse Mission will use the ground beef to help with the over 200,000 meals they serve each year, and Executive Director of Lighthouse Mission Peter McMullin was once again more than appreciative!
This year was a little different though as they were able to coordinate a delivery date where they were going to use 70 pounds the next day for a batch of chili to feed those who were in need of a meal, and I would like to share with you some of the message he sent me. "It’s unbelievable how quick that beef is gonna go. They use 70 pounds of beef every Friday to make 400 single 10 ounce cups of chilli and they get rid of all that they make in about 40 minutes that’s unbelievable and unfortunately not everyone gets a cup of chili". That really stuck with me and to me cements the importance of the work and generosity of the people like those at Field2Field do!
Here's a link showing a few of the people enjoying the chili! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/199FoEuR7Q/
PLEASE share this post with everyone you know in hopes that it may inspire them or someone else to do something that can make a difference in your community.
