🌾 Pasture change day! 🐄

We’ve been sectional grazing our cows this year, moving them onto fresh sections of pasture instead of giving them access to everything at once.

Today they got a brand-new section and, judging by the heads buried in the grass, I’d say they approve. 😂

Sectional grazing gives each area a chance to rest and regrow while the cows make better use of the grass that’s there. In a dry year like this one, every little bit of pasture management helps. 💚

Nothing prettier than happy cows belly-deep in grass. 🐄🌾

Well… this little girl wasn’t exactly part of the plan. 🤣🐮

Last fall, this mama decided she had other ideas. She was supposed to stay with the girls until breeding season… but apparently she thought she was trying out for Spruce Meadows and launched herself over the fence to visit the bulls. 😅

She was bred on October 21, which completely threw our calving schedule off. While everyone else will be arriving in February, this little surprise made her grand entrance today.

Meet our beautiful solid black heifer, weighing around 55–65 lbs. Tiny, healthy, and full of attitude! Within 10 minutes of being born, she was already bucking around the pasture like she’d been practicing for weeks. 🤠💨

I think this little cowgirl is going to keep us on our toes.

Guess she inherited her mama’s athletic ability… after all, fence-jumping seems to run in the family! 😂🐮

Tonight’s full moon is known as the Strawberry Moon—named after the strawberry harvest season, not because it’s actually pink.
It sure made for a beautiful evening over the farm! 🌕🍓
