We used to have lots of raccoon and possum issues with our chickens, ducks and quail but these two have really upped their game in tracking them down the last few years. Lucy caught her first one at 6 months and while I would not recommend to start that young she has a superior sense of smell that really has leveled up the game. So proud of her and her alerting skills.

Their alerting to this tree this am has me positive something is in this tree (it is too dense for a good visual). Trap will be set today!

Veggies are pouring in and hopefully some rain too. Forecast looks a little dicey today and I hope we avoid the hail. Dogs got a quick fetching game in and the cows are settling under the trees (if only they would use the large luxurious shelter they have 🙄😂

Since we have 4 that are growing at a much faster rate we’ve been trying to supplement the two smaller ones with a bottle. The female has got it down pat! Hopefully the male will get it soon.

Sure haven’t needed a heatlamp this week 😅. Unfortunately we’ve lost two turkeys this week due to the heat. We have had two fans going but turkeys are fairly fragile compared to chickens. Jack has been doing extra checks to make sure they never run out of water and don’t seem in distress but sometimes that’s still not enough unfortunately.

Hami had 6 piglets around midnight! She’s being a very attentive mom. Babies are doing well but are still at risk for a little while to be laid on by mom so we will keep a close eye! We put up wall bumpers and a heating corner for the piglets to hope to prevent this issue.
