I had a friend ask, “Do you have a no till garden?”
As you can see, completely fair question. But the answer is no. I made 2 big mistakes and we’re still learning 🤗
first, I had some ditch hay that had been rained on. No good for feed, I’ll put it in the garden. Nope… it still went to seed, despite all the moisture it had seen.
Second, the strawberries started creeping into the grass. Ground was so hard the rototiller wasn’t even scratching the dirt, so I thought if I put a heavy enough layer of mulch it would choke out the grass. Wrong. Or perhaps I didn’t use enough. So I’ve pulled everything up, mowed the grass and started to put down cardboard first then the mulch. We shall see how it turns out 🤔
