A business may begin with one person’s idea. It grows because others believe in it. 💚

Yesterday, our founder and CEO, Jay Gallagher, joined the AI panel at Food Island Partnership’s Celebrate 10: The Next 10 in Charlottetown.

Jay shared how we’re incorporating AI into FYB through our new custom-built CRM system, logistics, and subscription tools connected through MCP and plugins helping us manage the details behind every delivery.

The stories shared throughout the day were just as inspiring. Mitch Cobb’s journey and advice for fellow entrepreneurs were a particular highlight, alongside the opportunity to hear from Arlene Dickinson of Dragons’ Den.

Great businesses don’t just grow revenue — they protect their margins and continuously improve how they operate.

Food Island Partnership loved working with David Fitzpatrick of Zenkai Improvement Partners and and David McNally of Agyle Intelligence to bring PEI food and beverage companies practical insights and tools through our Protect Your Margin session.

One of the key takeaways: inputs are something you can control. By taking a closer look at strategy, processes, operational efficiency, people, supply chains and opportunities for improvement, companies can identify where small changes can have a meaningful impact on the bottom line.

A special thank you to all of the PEI food and beverage companies who took time away from their busy operations to join us, ask questions and explore how they can continuously improve and build stronger, more resilient businesses.

What a morning on Canada’s Food Island! ❤️

We had the pleasure of spending the morning with some of the world-class oyster shuckers here on PEI for the 30th PEI International Shellfish Festival!

A huge thank you to Jason Woodside, PEI Tasting Tours, and John and the team at Pinette River Oyster Co. for welcoming us with true PEI hospitality and sharing their passion and knowledge of PEI wild oysters. From freshly shucked oysters and quahogs to oysters hot off the grill, there was plenty to taste, learn and enjoy.

Days like this are such a great reminder of what makes Prince Edward Island so special — our people, our products and our place. So grateful we get to call Canada’s Food Island home. 🦪🌊❤️

Good luck to all of the incredible shuckers competing today! We can’t wait to see you put your skills to the test. 🔪🦪🏆

What an incredible day showcasing what makes Prince Edward Island, Canada’s Food Island, so special our people, our products and our place.

We had the pleasure of touring PEI with the Garland Canada International Chef Challenge chefs, who are here to compete this weekend at the PEI International Shellfish Festival. And what better way to welcome them than by taking them straight to the source?

🥔 Potatoes: PEI grows approximately 20% of Canada’s potatoes, with more than 50 varieties grown in our famous iron-rich red soil. We’ve been growing potatoes for over 200 years!

🥩 Beef: PEI produces approximately 1.5% of Canada’s beef. Raised on our Island’s small family farms, PEI beef reflects the care, quality and agricultural traditions that have been part of our food story for generations.

🦪 Oysters: Approximately 40 million PEI oysters are produced each year, representing 26% of the Canadian market and each one takes 3–5 years to grow.

🦞 Lobster: 1,260 Island fishers harvest approximately 45 million pounds annually across two seasons, supporting thousands of jobs and sharing PEI lobster with markets in 28 countries around the world.

🌊 Mussels: PEI produces 30–40 million pounds of mussels, with each taking approximately 18–24 months to reach market size.

🥃 And at Deep Roots Distillery, we experienced another side of Island innovation a family-owned business known for its apple brandy and creative spirits, made with natural ingredients sourced as locally as possible.

The numbers are impressive, but what makes PEI truly extraordinary are the people behind the food our farmers, fishers, growers, processors and entrepreneurs. Generations of knowledge, hard work, innovation and pride, all connected to this incredible place.

So excited for these talented chefs to take some of the best ingredients PEI has to offer and show us what they can create this weekend!
