Hi PEI!
What a spring we are having so far. Mother Nature, as always, in charge. Most of our usual habits of spring are gone askew this year. As a growers, we learn to adapt, and deal with the issues that follow with it. Ultimately, this cold wet weather will delay the flower crop, and possibly the quality. But…. We can’t think about that, we must focus on growing our crop and keeping it healthy.
We have our first planting of Stock in our tunnel, Sweet Peas, Ranuculus and Anemone, are happy in the raised bed, and a few of the perennials and bi annuals are also in the ground…. The majority of the flowers are waiting in the cold frame and greenhouse for the weather to stabilize. Not many annual flowers appreciate cold, wet ground. I have always found it’s best not to rush. When the weather improves, and the soil temp rises, it will be a very busy ‘catch up’ time.
At the present we are seeding, almost daily and our germinator seems to be constantly full. Transplanting the seedlings to trays of 50, keeps us busy. I’m grateful for MaryElla’s help with her seeding and transplanting skills, and to my good friends helping out when they are able. Michelle Thompson thank you with your pruning and weeding skills🙏 spending hours in the roses, shrubs, and peonies, weeding and tidying and adding amendments to ensure they are off to a good start this growing season.
I love this time of year with all the new growth, the varied colours in the hedge rows and watching my favourite friends, our barn swallows that have been nesting here for +30 years. Seeing their ariel skills and cheery voices fills my heart. These dear little beings fly so far away and yet find their way back to my barn yearly year. Watching them upgrade their nests, they always seem to happy and cheery, their presence always adding joy to my day!
The photos today are a few from recent weeks.
I hope you’re able to get out to see the local tulip fields at Belfast Tulips and Tulips ! 🌷 amazing beauty from these amazing growers here on PEI !
Have a great week everyone ### 👩‍🌾🥀🌷

Hi PEI ! The weather finally gave us some encouragement these past few days and hearing the peepers last night when we left the greenhouse is surely a welcome sign of Spring !
The past few weeks we have been sowing lots of seed. There are many tasks to set up our grow space, and every year one can expect items that aren’t working, like a family of mice nesting the greenhouse furnace was cause for an evening call to Gary Moore. It was a very cold night and we needed to keep the tiny seedlings from cold damage. Thanks to Gary forgetting everything back on track
Dosatron expert Vlad came yesterday to service and re install the unit, another job of setting up each spring. Thank you Vlad 🙏 . The Dosatron is used to apply nutrients through watering. We always apply fish/kelp fertilizer every Friday Other applications are made when necessary. For instance, a starter solution is applied to encourage good roots and a ph reducer is used to make the nutrients available to plants that struggle from a high ph. Constantly monitoring plant growth and the greenhouse environment is essential in growing healthy plants.

MOTHER’S DAY is fast approaching and I wanted to mention although we will not have fresh flowers available until later, our Blue Wagon bouquets vouchers make a much appreciated gift for Mom to enjoy throughout the season late June through October! Visit our website to check out the options available.

Hi PEI! On this beautiful sunny Friday, I wanted to share some news from the farm. Just a few more weeks before our new growing season begins, I have been spending some time getting organized with the many tasks that need to happen in the quiet months… This week our faithful Kubota buggy is getting some much needed repairs, so it will be all set for another busy season. Most of our seed has arrived, and is sorted, we are trailing for ASCFG again this year lots of fun new varieties. It’s always exciting to see first hand what will be coming to the market in the future. Our dahlia tubers and cutting mums are wintering well and will soon be joined with some new varieties we are trying. Almost caught up with Bride replies…. our calendar is filling up!
The Website is presently being updated , and we will let you know when it’s up and running! Lots of new options for pre purchase for yourself or to gift a friend or loved one.

Hi PEI!
As we are hours from beginning a new year, I reflected today some highlights of 2025. As always, #1 ….. Thankful for another year of staying healthy and able to continue on for another season of flowering.
A huge thank you to all our farm staff and generous helpers who worked together tirelessly throughout this past year. You must know how grateful I am to have your support and friendship. Many hours of fun, and laughter, combined with work… in whatever weather this past summer dished out. Couldn’t have possibly done it without you💗 💗💗💗a special welcome to Joy who joined us late in the season and instantly became part of the team💐🙏🥰 And to my family for always being there for me.
Some highlights which may not seem significant, but were things I was able to check off the bucket list! Just a few of many…
Our tunnel acquired new end walls and doors, something that made the world of difference in both access and ventilation.
Our tired farm sign and surrounding shrubs were removed and replaced with a hand painted one from talented and decked out by a new flower bed thanks to our amazingly talented and very capable
Thanks to our contractor Glen Fullerton (Barney) for constructing our new Meadow Barn . Thanks to Barney we now have a home to display our dried flowers and will house additional products next growing season. My home received some much needed repairs and topped off with a fresh coat of paint! Special thanks to retail partners
(this coming year will mark 29 years of farm grown bouquets) 💐

And thanks to all of you who made regular stops into the farm yard to visit our Blue Wagon💙💗💙so grateful to you 💗
Wishing you happiness and health and love in the coming year for you and your families. Because of you, we are delighted to be flowering again another season.
Happy New Year ! 💐### Barb 🌻

Hi PEI! Here’s a quick farm update ! Although it’s been very cold and wet, (it is November after all!) our cut flower mums and our lily successions have been warm and happy inside the greenhouse. They are sharing the space with crates of dahlia tubers we harvested last week. So thankful to have a warm cosy space to work on preparing the dahlia tubers for storage. Today we will have freshly harvested FRESH BOUQUETS in our Meadow Barn. This will be your last opportunity to purchase our fresh bouquets at the farm this season. Open 10-4 DRIED FLOWER UPDATE ! Next weekend we will be featuring dried bunches , bouquets, and wreaths ! These dried bouquets will last all winter and make great gifts! As we are almost finished with putting our Dahlia tubers away, our focus will be building dried bouquets and wreaths. Then we will be closing the Meadow Barn and Blue Wagon for the season 4PM Nov.15th. ABOUT OUR MUMS. Did you know we start our mums from rooted and UR cuttings mid spring. They are planted into crates in early June where they remain until mid November when the last of the crop is harvested. It’s a long season of care but with the time and effort when rewarded with beautiful blooms! OUR DRIED FLOWERS are harvested, cleaned, bunched and dried beginning in early July and continued till just last week! The drys are a new item for us, and we are happy to offer them this fall! Our final fresh bouquets deliveries will be going to Riverview Country Market early next week. Thanks to everyone who purchase our flowers, we appreciate your support! Hope to see you at the farm this weekend or next! If you’re attending The Three Oaks craft fair in Kensington this weekend be sure to watch for our good friend Stephanie’s soap! Stay warm everyone !

Our new farm sign flowers are still looking great October 31. The Calendula are especially happy! Although it was mid summer before it was planted with some left overs from the field… it turned out pretty much like we hoped! Thanks to Lind and Linda for helping to plant it, the entire team for keeping it watered during the drought, to Lind who created the bed, Elizabeth for the design, and Starla for painting💗🙏🫶 exactly what I envisioned!

How fun 🤩 is this! Happy Birthday! Thanks for stopping by!

How fun 🤩 is this! Happy Birthday! Thanks for stopping by!

I want to send a huge thank you to the staff who were working this past Saturday. I walked in and said, “You’re going to think I’m crazy, but I want a bouquet for my cat’s birthday.” She loves eating flowers so I can't enjoy a bouquet because a lot of them are toxic to cats. Everyone was so kind and helped put together a non-toxic bouquet just for her to munch on. Thank you for making her birthday extra special🌻🐾
