The garlic really appreciated the rain after such a cold, late start, and then hot weather last week. It's time to give them a bit of food! I prefer to use a fish fertilizer, which I apply as a foliar spray, but any general fertilizer will do to give them a bit of a boost as they do the hard work getting their leaves out. This is an important step to set them up for healthy bulb development later on in the season. They will thank you for it 😍.

My winter seed sowing 'jug' experiment is wrapping up as we are finally at the stage to be opening everything up and getting it planted. Overall I'm thrilled with the results and will definitely be doing this next year. I certainly learned a lot, and by trying the same seeds in different ways I am taking away some valuable lessons to apply next time. Maintaining the correct moisture level is the key for successful germination and growth. Considering the wild spring these jugs went through, I'm confident they were truly and fully tested! Highly recommend 👍

It feels like I've been holding my breath this spring, waiting for these little guys to make an appearance! To say I'm relieved would be a massive understatement. Our late spring has definitely put the garlic crop back, so I'm not going to start my reserved list until we're a bit further along and I'm satisfied with what progresses. Stay tuned for updates! 🧄🤞

Just wanted to thank everyone who stopped by the Farm Stand today for our Village Community Garage Sale. What a great day to see so many folks out and about! I can't wait to get those veggies and flowers growing to see you all again soon. And a big thanks to Village of Chauvin and Valerie Nysetvold Gramlich for organizing this event and helping us all clear out a little space in our lives, and also find great deals in the process. Zora wants everyone to know that she will have her own little table set up at the farm stand on Saturday, because just like me, this girl has to make some room in her dog house 😆. She has lots of doggy goodies to sell like harnesses, backpacks, carriers, winter jackets, booties and other accessories all for small dogs! She will accept payment in treats. Here's another great reason to visit the farm stand this Saturday for our Village Garage Sale. My talented Dad has been busy once again crafting up a storm and has been giving his sewing machine a workout! There will be handmade treasures available for sale that are made with love and attention to detail. Super handy bags of all sizes for all kinds of uses, along with crocheted tea towels and loops for hanging/organizing those tough to store items. See you Saturday!

And a new no dig planting area is born! This area was tilled 18 months ago to remove the grass and was then tarped to prevent any w**ds from growing until I could set it up. Now that I was ready, I marked my 'sidewalks', and laid landscape fabric to prevent any w**ds from growing. I then planted my potatoes here and topped them with straw mulch to again control w**d growth and help with moisture retention for the potatoes.

I will have lots of goodies for sale this Saturday at the Farm Stand for our Village Garage Sale. There will be assorted household items, small pieces of furniture, luggage and of course, plants! I will have some beautiful spider plants and pothos as well as a gorgeous monstera plant for sale. She's beautiful and I truly hate to part with her, but she's so healthy and is quickly outgrowing the space I have in the house, so hopefully someone will take her to a great home and love her as much as I do 😍. (Even her recent new leaf was a heart, so sweet). Don't miss out on some great finds, this Saturday! See you then.

Our community garage sale is next Saturday, and we have 15 locations already registered! Wow! I am excited for some nicer weather and seeing everyone out and about. For anyone out there who is an artist, crafter, creator, maker or may have something to sell, but may not have enough to fill up a table I just wanted to extend an invitation to you to join me here. I will have the farm stand open, and you are more than welcome to bring your goodies here to sell. This is a great chance to 'test out' a product or item you have considered selling but don't have enough to participate in an official 'farmers market' setting. Folks will be shopping... So if you'd like to be selling, let me know how I can help you! All ages are welcome.
