If she didnt give me such giant calves and wasnt so friendly id eat her. We had to get her down the squeeze to give some antibiotics for a hurt leg. Instead she tried going through the fence. Every day with cows is still a good day.

This little heifer calf and her mom have had a rough start. Mom gave birth with mastitis. She appeared to have of her quarters in good shape when we milked her out. Turns out they werent and baby refused to eat and was getting sick had to pull the calf away from mom for bottle feeding while moms getting milked out twice a day and antibiotics to clear the infection. We have had an eventful calling season but glad it's over and that this mom is on the mend. They should be full time reunited again in a few days. For now it's just a bit of extra work but so worth it.

The first pure highland calf arrived. Another pull, But is also the first heifer. She will grow to be a black heifer despite her chocolate coat she has now. I was at first excited thinking she was a dun but closer inspection showed a closer to black colored nose as well as the tip of her tail is black. Iv learned alot. And I'm proud of the growth we've made since we've really only had the cattle about 16 months.
