Now's the perfect time to start your seeds! These delicious fruits pretty much harvest themselves. Once their husks turn pale yellow and they fall off the plants, they're ready to eat!

Have you used our Canadian Seed Finder to source seeds? seeds.ca/seedfinder

Newly updated, the Seed Finder lists all the vegetable seeds available from Canadian seed companies. It’s currently indexing a whopping 11085 varieties* available from 132 suppliers!

It’s easy for you to filter varieties by region, and to search for certified organic seeds, and bulk quantities.

What’s especially incredible is that much of the information is updated by volunteers each year, supported by staff time and donation funds.

* As the data is cleaned up, this number may drop slightly but even so, there are at least 1000 varieties listed this year that didn't appear last year. Why is this? We can't know with absolute certainty which factors are most important, but there are more suppliers included than ever before (132 now vs. 120 last year) and there are always new varieties appearing (hopefully more/as quickly as varieties disappear each year).

It's tomato week! 🍅

Week 7 is the perfect time to start your tomato and ground cherry seeds. Look out for more info about growing both of these crops in the coming days!

Note: I garden in Zone 3, near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This year, my last frost date is May 15th, which I count as Week 0 in my seed-starting calendar. All my lists line up with that date. If your last frost date differs from mine, save this list and adjust my schedule to fit your garden. Search "[your city] + last frost date" to find your own Week 0. Count backward from there to find your current week!
