A number of us from the Eastern local of OMSPA attended the CHEO Teddy Bear picnic. We donated the maple syrup for the pancake breakfast and hosted an information booth for our industry.
It was interesting and fun to discuss maple syrup production with people of various backgrounds.

What's so special about maple syrup?? 🤨

Not only is maple syrup absolutely delicious (duh 😉), but because maple syrup nutrition supplies inflammation-reducing polyphenol antioxidants, it can be considered part of a healthy diet that's helpful in preventing certain diseases like arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease or heart disease.

So keep that in mind next time you are deciding what a "healthy amount" of maple syrup is (hint: the limit does not exist!)

As the weather gets cooler it is time to start back at some sugar bush maintenance. There is tubing to be repaired, drop lines to be replaced, and I am sure that as a result of summer storms there will be trees and branches to be cut and removed.
Even though some of the leaves have fallen there are still wonderful colours. It is a fantastic time of year.

PS: We still have lots of maple syrup to satisfy your sweet tooth!🙂
