40 YEARS AGO, A PENNY DRIVE TAUGHT ME SOMETHING I HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN:

Small change can make a BIG difference. ❤️

When I was in high school ( Central Technical in Toronto), I was school spirit rep on student council, I helped organize a penny drive and together we raised $2,500.

Now, 43 years later, I want to do it again - but this time for COMMUNITY ANGELS Food and Housing Support Society.

We are launching our CHANGE FOR CHANGE campaign.

We are asking our community, businesses, schools, families and organizations to collect their loose change - pennies you may still have tucked away, nickels, dimes, quarters, loonies, toonies, or even small bills.

Every little bit adds up.

Your change will help support the many programs of COMMUNITY ANGELS Food and Housing Support Society - helping the 800+ seniors struggling with food insecurity ( previously known as The Tydel Foods Seniors Program ) - supporting families in need, our Children’s lunch bag program, providing community outreach and helping us continue working toward greater food and housing security in our community.

Imagine what could happen if hundreds of families each filled one jar.

Imagine what could happen if businesses placed a collection jar at their counter.

Imagine children learning that even the smallest contribution can help another human being.

43 years ago, we proved that pennies could become thousands of dollars to feed the hungry standing in lineups at Christmas time

Now it is time to prove it again.

CHANGE FOR CHANGE
Small coins. Big hearts. Real impact.

COMMUNITY ANGELS Food and Housing Support Society - Larger donations can be made as well.
Donations over $20.00 will receive a Charitable Tax receipt.

We are so proud to share the work of COMMUNITY ANGELS Food and Housing Support Society and our Seniors Program, currently serving 800+ seniors every month. ❤️

*Running out of TYDEL FOODS*

For many seniors, the rising cost of food has made it difficult to afford the basics. Our program helps provide monthly meat, FREE fruits and vegetables, FREE non-perishable food items and items such as Ensure, Boost and pull-up pads FREE for the month.

But COMMUNITY ANGELS is about much more than one program.

WE ALSO PROVIDE :

• Free lunches Tuesday–Friday for seniors through our Resource Room

• Emergency response during fires, floods and other community crises

• Free food for hungry children who come into TYDEL FOODS

• Street outreach for people experiencing homelessness and addiction

• Support, compassion and connection for seniors battling isolation

And we need our community’s help to keep all of this going.

❤️ HOW YOU CAN HELP:

1- Monetary donations are greatly needed. E-transfers to
[email protected]

2- Non-perishable food donations are always appreciated.

3- Volunteers are welcomed.

Donations can be sent by e-transfer to:

** Charitable tax receipts are issued. **

COMMUNITY ANGELS was founded by Brigida Crosbie, owner of TYDEL FOODS & The Cheese Bar, Founder/President of Community Angels, Public Speaker, and recipient of the 2026 British Columbia Medal of Good Citizenship.

With a Grateful Heart

Today, I am deeply humbled and incredibly honoured to be named a recipient of the British Columbia Medal of Good Citizenship.

This honour is not mine alone,

It also belongs to my husband Tony and my daughters Tyanna and Delana = ( TyDel )

It belongs to every volunteer and employee past and present who served others with kindness, genuine love and compassion.

It belongs to every customer who walked through the doors of TYDEL FOODS ( 45766 Patten Ave ) and The Cheese Bar ( 45922 Thunderbird Lane, District 1881 ) knowing that their support helped us continue serving the most vulnerable people in our community.

It belongs to every donor, every local business, every community partner and every person who believed in our mission when the road became difficult.

It belongs to every senior who trusted us, every family who needed a hand, every child who came through our doors hungry, and every person who needed to be reminded that they still mattered.

My life has not always been easy. I have known hardship, pain, fear, rejection, and moments when I felt broken. But those experiences taught me to recognize pain in others. They taught me not to judge people by where they are, but to meet them there with dignity, compassion, empathy, and love.

I have always believed that real change begins when we stop asking people to become who we think they should be and instead choose to love them where they are.

Through the years, I have seen seniors struggling quietly with hunger and isolation. I have seen families trying desperately to put food on the table. I have seen children who needed someone to say, “You will not go hungry today.” I have seen people experiencing homelessness and addiction who were treated as though they were invisible.

But no one is invisible to God.

Every person is someone’s child.

Every person is worthy of dignity.

Every soul is worthy of God’s love, no matter where they have been.

Above everything else, this honour belongs to God.

There were many days when we did not know how we would continue. We used our own money, prayed through the fear, and trusted that God would provide what we could not.

And again and again, He did.

He provided through volunteers.

He provided through customers.

He provided through donors, businesses, friends, strangers, and a community that chose to care.

This work has never been about one person. It has always been about what can happen when ordinary people come together with faith, compassion, and a willingness to serve.

To my husband Tony, my children, my family, my friends, our volunteers, our employees, our seniors, our customers, our donors, and every person who has stood beside TYDEL FOODS and Community Angels Food & Housing Support Society:

Thank you.

You are part of every meal served.

Every senior comforted.

Every child fed.

Every family supported.

Every person reminded that they are not forgotten.

This medal may carry my name, but its story carries all of yours.

May every stranger know they are loved.

May every hurting heart begin to believe that grace can still reach them.

May no one feel alone, forgotten, or unworthy of kindness.

And may all the glory always belong to God.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for walking this journey with me.

God Bless you all.

With love and gratitude,
Brigida Crosbie,

Owner, TYDEL FOODS / The Cheese Bar

Founder & President, Community Angels Food & Housing Support Society

A Wonderful Visit to One of Our Favourite Places in Kelowna ❤️🇮🇹

Tony and I never miss an opportunity to stop by one of our favourite places whenever we’re in Kelowna - Valoroso Foods.

This visit was extra special because we had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Joe Valoroso and what an incredible gentleman he is. Joe welcomed us with a delicious cappuccino, a simple act of friendship that speaks volumes about the kind of person he is.

As we sat and talked, Joe shared the story of how he built his business and his journey from Sicily, Italy to Canada. My father was from Pisticci, Italy and before long Joe was laughing and saying, “If we keep talking, we may be family!”

Joe is warm, kind, knowledgeable and passionate about both his heritage and his business. You can tell that everything he does comes from the heart. These are the kinds of people and businesses that make a community special.

If you’re ever in Kelowna, do yourself a favour and stop by Valoroso Foods. Enjoy the amazing food, have a coffee and if you’re lucky, spend a few minutes chatting with Joe. You’ll leave feeling like you’ve made a new friend.

Thank you, Joe, for your hospitality, your stories and your kindness. We can’t wait to visit again.

Thank you 🙏 for the pasta - we will be trying it this evening !!

❤️ Brigida & Tony

Merry Christmas 🎄 to all of our incredible customers, staff and volunteers

This Christmas, we want to speak to you not just as a business - but as people who live beside you, walk with you, and care deeply about what you are carrying.

These are not easy times. Many of you are facing uncertainty you never imagined. Rising costs. Empty cupboards. Fear about what tomorrow may bring. Quiet worries that keep you awake at night. We see it in the eyes of seniors, in the courage of parents, and in the strength of people who keep showing up even when life feels unbearably heavy.

If you are struggling, please know this first and foremost:
You are not failing. The world is heavy right now.

Christmas came into the world during a time of hardship, not ease. Jesus was born into uncertainty, into poverty, into a world that was broken and afraid. And yet - that birth changed everything. Not because it removed hardship overnight, but because it brought hope that hardship would not have the final word.

This is the heart of Christmas.

Hope is not pretending everything is fine.
Hope is knowing we will get through this - together.

This Christmas Tony and I are choosing to put family and faith ahead of making money. In a world that is constantly rushing and demanding more, we are intentionally slowing down to be present with the people we love and to honour what truly matters. Time together is something we never get back, and we do not want to lose the moments that matter most - the conversations, the laughter, the prayers, and the simple gift of being together. This pause is a reminder that our lives, our families, and our faith are worth more than any transaction.

We want you to hear this clearly: you will be okay. Not because times are easy - but because you are not alone. Communities survive when they care for one another. Families endure when love leads the way. And light always finds its way through even the darkest moments.

💛 From our hearts to your homes Merry Christmas to you and your family.

We pray that your home is filled with warmth, that your table is surrounded by love, and that even in the quiet moments, you feel peace. Whether your family is large or small, near or far, may you feel connected, protected, and deeply loved this Christmas.

We believe in a future where people are fed, supported, and treated with dignity. We believe in neighbours helping neighbours. We believe in faith that shows up in action. And we believe God is still working - quietly, powerfully - even when we can’t yet see the full picture.

If you are worried about food, about tomorrow, about how you will get through the winter - please know we are here. This place exists because people matter. Because hope matters. Because no one should feel forgotten.

Christmas reminds us that love entered the world gently - and changed it forever.

As we pause to honour this sacred season, we do so with gratitude for you. For your trust. For your kindness. For your belief in community. You have helped carry not just us, but countless others who needed help along the way.

Much Love ❤️
