Exciting day for us here on the farm. Two years ago I decided I wanted to do a test of fresh water vs dugout water on one our bull calf pairs pasture. Over those past two years I hauled 42-45 pairs fresh water daily, at weaning time in early September over those 2 years of data the bull calves averaged a hair over 50 extra pounds at weaning. From a commercial standpoint of 2000 pounds gain at $5 per pound that is $10,000/year. Today we finished a plan in the making over that 2 year span. Drilled a well and setup a 100% solar system with the help of the knowledgeable crew of Watermen out of Clive, AB.
