Been too busy to post, but a belated and heartfelt thank you to the Nelson family, Mike and Amanda and their 4 kids, along with my in-laws who have just moved onto our farm in Duncan, and Connor for helping knock off the Madeleine Sylvaner and Siegerrebe last Saturday. So as many of you know, Connor, Ben, Charm and I have settled, sort of of, into our home in North Cowichan, about a 17 minute drive from . It’s a 17.69 acre property in the ALR and we’ve been very busy over the last 6 years getting things sorted. Last year we put in a garden and we did the same this year. We produce a silly amount of food that tidal waves us. We grow for a few families, can and preserve for ourselves and sell excess. You’ll see stuff pop up in the w**e shop on occasion. Like today. We’re growing 6 kinds of cucumbers and three of them made an appearance in a package along with basil salt from the farm and a vial of the classic . For fun. We’ve just started an IG for the farm and will start posting things that we’ve done and will do on the farm. Feel free to give us a follow if you’d like. Space Goat Farm . In the mean time, it was lovely to see so many of you today in the shop. You Americans outnumbered the Canadians by a long shot, strangely, and the Albertans were on your heels. Yes, our hours have been wild. I’ll be opening some August dates soon. I’m in the shop today until 3:00 doing tastings (see pic). We have some produce from the Somenos property here. No name for it yet, but Connor and I are learning towards Space Goat Farm (no goats 🤪). Speaking of Connor, he is working in the vineyard today and brought along his friend. Aside from being a very kind young man, his friend brings an added advantage of being 6’3” at 15 years old. If you’ve ever worked here, you know what a bonus that is! So mortadella and peas. Classic. It’s bologna that doesn’t suck, as a pasta sauce, that one needs in life, with some Raven the Thief (Zweigelt). As an aside, mortadella IS the original bologna. From Bologna. Get it? And yeah, I did have the crappy bologna in sandwiches as a kid. With ketchup. It’s ok, my mum didn’t know. I still remember using a finger to pick the soggy bread stuck to the roof of my mouth. Too much? Too much. Sorry. You should try this though.
