Let's talk about change!
We know that many of you have been supporting South Island Saskatoons for a long time and have seen many changes over the years of your support.
Change is one of the inevitablilities of life, and today, we had to make the change that no customer enjoys. We had to raise our prices.
The economic realities that we are all too familiar with these days meant that the margins Sharon and Monty were operating with were too small for us to carry our mortgage. In order to keep the farm, and continue the legacy of this magical property we have to face the books to see what is realistic for us monetarily. We know that the bump may be jarring, but we hope that you will continue to support us and the farm in the future. We have raised prices to a point which we hope will hold for several years so that you can come to expect the same stability that Sharon and Monty gave. This being said, in the short term, we may be adjusting things as we make mistakes and learn from them.
A mistake we like to apologize for was mispricing our bags of scones today. We were expecting to fit 4 to a bag for $15, but then we only got three, this mistep was poorly communicated through ourselves due to the late night/early morning nature of the prep, and it led to the bags being overvalued. Tomorrow at Cedar, the price on the bags of scones will be adjusted.
Overall, we hope to keep the changes to a minimum for now, but as we grow with the business, undoubtedly we will have ideas and changes we want to implement. We hope these changes will be for the betterment of the customer experience. Ultimately, you are the center of our business. If you are not happy then we aren't either! So we will want your input on any changes we are thinking of making, especially if it has to do with a recipe. Please continue to follow the page where we will occasionally have customer polls, or for information on blind taste-tests happening in our store. By doing this, we hope to maintain transparency with you, and invite you into the process to have your say! We are also open to receiving feedback in person at the store or farmer's market if you would like to come talk to us.
Thank you all for your continued support at the market and in store today, as well as your grace and patience with our current and future growing pains as we learn the ropes!
We hope to see you soon,
The South Island Saskatoon Sailor family.
