We are breeding our black Angus cows with a Shaver Bull this year for the first time.
Until now, we have raised our own black Angus bull to breed our cows. This year we are moving in a different direction, caring less about pure bred Angus, and focusing completely on epigenetics.
Our cattle will remain 100% grass fed, and will now be crossed with a Bull that has been grass fed for its entire life.
Taking this approach allows us to change the bull on a yearly basis if we want, which gives more variety to our animals and we never have to worry about keeping offspring separate, or extra rental properties to keep our own bull.
This is a new direction for us and we believe that it will make our animals stronger and our beef better.
