Jaxx tentatively broke into his first trot. It was like he was asking, “Really, go faster? Pretty sure no, I can’t! Oh wait, that’s not too bad”. Quiet curiosity, and a willingness to try. What a fantastic fella.

If you want rodeo, you’ll need to go elsewhere! Jaxx’s 2nd ride was uneventful, as he found where to put his feet to stay balanced with a rider on top. What a little darling. I didn’t video our 3rd ride yesterday, as we walked around the round pen for 10 minutes with no drama. He’s a real thinker, figuring out our new relationship 💙💜

Part 2 of the first riding experience for Jaxx! He takes his first steps with a rider, and I have to say he was pretty solid 🥰 I split the video, so it wasn’t as long and tried to zoom in - we will see if that worked 😂

Jaxx has had a month off, but I’m finally finding time to get back at it. This is his second time with me putting weight in the stirrup, and learning to square up to the rail so I can mount. As you’ll see in the video, it’s like he has been squaring up multiple times before. Watch the next video for his first hind quarter yields and a couple steps!

I thought Jaxx was looking a little bum high. His butt is 15 1/2 and not even 3 years old yet! Shows almost 16hh here, but I pushed it down through his thick hair!

I guess Trail also took a video the other day. First time ever putting weight in the stirrup, leaning over the saddle and standing taller than Jaxx. It sounds like little things, but they are strong indications that Jaxx will respond really well first time I swing a leg over. 💗 what a sweetie!

Calm as a cucumber! Plus introduced Jaxx to a tarp today. Not only did he walk over it happily, he walked (and trotted!!) with it over the saddle and over his hips. Honestly, these Gypsies make training so easy. Climbed the fence and put weight on the stirrup, leaned over and patted his neck on the far side, put my leg in the saddle, the stirrup and his butt, all the while he never moved one step away or even lifted his head in alarm. What a champ! I should rename him, lol. Gonna be tough to let this boy go!

Jaxx didn’t mind a saddle, even with a back strap. Just doing his job, learning the trot on line. I’m so happy with his temperament. He is going to make an excellent husband horse! Nice and tall 🥰
