Now that shows ingenuity!

When Prohibition banned commercial alcohol, grape growers found a clever loophole: they sold concentrated grape juice bricks that people could legally buy and dissolve in water at home.

The funniest part was the label, telling buyers not to leave the dissolved juice in a cool cupboard for 21 days, because then it would turn into wine. In other words, the “warning” was basically the recipe.

These products became one of the wine industry’s sneakiest survival tricks during Prohibition, letting growers stay in business while customers quietly figured out exactly what not to do.

This might be one of the funniest legal loopholes in American food history.
