'Sammuel Tanguay, who owns Les Maraîchers de l'or vert with his partner, Jason Lessard, said in the event’s press release, “In our food system, we need to continue, as a society, to eat locally, to see what’s in season and eat it while it’s in season.” When The Record caught up with him, he elaborated on this, nodding to the resource CIBLE has put together for the public. “[CIBLE] is very supportive to local farms. They also work to bridge the gap between farms and the customers, helping with marketing and information being distributed,” Tanguay said during a phone interview June 18. “They have even created a resource that allows for customers to see what produce is available in their region, and which farms they can visit to acquire it.” The resources he mentioned are the Souvenirs de cueillette brochure and the Guide Pratique booklet, educational tools designed to be displayed at participating farms, indicating when specific produce is in season, and who is actively growing it.
Among the over two dozen types of produce listed in the resource, is the haskap berry, better known as the French “camerise”, which Tanguay noted is one of their U-Pick fruits, available quite soon. “U-Pick could start end of June, or early July, depending on the weather. We need some sun, need some heat!”'..
