It’s a little chaotic but it’s happy. The stand itself is not open but if anyone needs a bouquet or two feel free to reach out and I can make it happen for you 💕 still easing my way back into the real world.

The stand may be closed but the stores are being replenished and new recipes are being tested, some of these won’t be available for this year, but I’ll be growing more of the things in them so that I can make more for next year. This was a small batch of zucchini carrot and ginger marmalade, (which while I could have made tons and tons of I of course waited until I’d used up most of my zucchini and carrots that were ready to go to try making it. 🤦‍♀️🤣) i think there is more of this in the future but it’s definitely a more labour intensive product to make. This and the zucchini mincemeat.

So you might have noticed a bit of a lack of activity here and maybe a slightly sparser farm stand than expected if you came to visit recently. I so appreciate your patience if so.

This week I leave my day job temporarily to go on a medical leave as it’s become necessary. And at some point in the next few weeks I will be away from the property for a good chunk of time.

Unfortunately this means the stand will not get to see the glory of harvest season this year. The stand will be closed for the season as of the end of August with a plan to possibly have some of these beauties pictured drying, available for some dried bouquets along with canned goods around Christmas.

Closing up before really getting to share the bounty is a decision I’ve struggled with until it was no longer really a decision so much as a necessity. But I so hope to see some of you at Christmas time and next year ❤️❤️ and I so appreciate everyone coming along on this little garden adventure.

I’ll post some sporadic updates and content until I’m away and will be sure to post an update as to when I will not be able to be contacted.

100% homegrown, minus the sugar salt and vinegar. My first jar failure ever gave me a sneak preview of the final product after the bottom fell out in a perfect circle, and these are something to look forward to once they’ve had a chance to rest a while.

The Rhubarb and Elderflower is gone, but that has made room for some summer flavour in the stand. 125 ml Strawberry Mojito Jam, or 250 ml Classic Strawberry Jam. There’s also some oatmeal raisin chocolate chip cookies out there to round out musicfest weekend.

Does anyone else feel a bit odd making use of invasive species? I inherited yellow loosestrife on this property when I moved in, and didn’t know what it was until a couple years ago, and despite thinking it’s beautiful, I also know it’s not one of our native species and will choke them out given the opportunity. So it’s a balance of keeping it under control and not letting it spread, while also enjoying this plant I discovered accidentally after asking for help from a garden group identifying it. (So far it has stayed contained to the original patch that was here when I moved in, it had spread before I found out more about it but - friend with a bobcat helped that problem last fall 😅)
