Tannadice Farms Ltd Farming the Way Farming Should Be. Healthful. Ethical. Local. Producing high quality succulent pork. Quite simply, it's how we feel farming should be done.

Our Methods
Ethical, healthful agriculture in the Comox Valley

Tannadice Farms has established a method of farming that is ethical, sustainable and healthful. We take great care of our animals because we know that the way your food is produced has a profound effect on its nutritional value. Healthy animals produce healthy meat.

• We never feed our animals growth hormones or animal by-produc

ts, and we use antibiotics only when necessary to prevent a sick animal from suffering.

• Our Angus cattle are allowed to graze naturally, and their diet is supplemented by nutrient-rich corn silage. The result is flavourful, marbled meat that's high in conjugated linoleic acids (CLA) - powerful antioxidants that have been shown to fight cancer and even reduce body fat in humans.

• Our certified "High Health" pigs live their entire lives without being exposed to most common porcine diseases. Their "High Health" status is maintained through meticulous cleaning of their barns and regular veterinary check-ups. You'd be hard-pressed to find a healthier herd of pigs! Tannadice Farms is proud to be a part of the Comox Valley's agricultural community and encourages you to support your local farmers whenever possible. Supporting local producers keeps both your family and your community healthy. Please look for Tannadice Farms products at your favourite local restaurants and food stores. Or, make an appointment to purchase your meat directly from the farm.

Nothing beats the feeling of a freshly cleaned barn!

Our pigs certainly agree…they were busy exploring, rooting, and making themselves right at home after cleaning day. Happy pigs, clean pens, and plenty of curious snouts make all the hard work worth it!

Cows thrive on high-quality forage, and strip grazing maximizes this by using a movable electric fence to provide a fresh "strip" of pasture daily. This method prevents cattle from trampling or overgrazing the field, ensuring more uniform nutrient intake. By allowing grazed areas to rest and recover, farmers significantly improve soil health and overall forage yield.

Pig of the Week: Clancy!

Meet Clancy, our Duroc boar with a big personality and even bigger genetics! Durocs are well known for producing high-quality pork with excellent marbling, tenderness, and flavour…traits that made Clancy stand out right from the start.

His name was chosen by Nick, and “Clancy” comes from Irish origins meaning “son of the red warrior,” which suits this handsome red boar perfectly.

Clancy made quite the journey to join the farm, flying in from Saskatchewan as a young weaner pig from Fast Genetics. He arrived in a dog crate on WestJet and was carefully selected for his strong genetics and quality bloodlines.

We’re excited to watch this guy continue to grow and contribute to the farm!

Fresh pasture day! The cows and calves were on the move AGAIN after completely mowing down the grass in their last field. It’s amazing how quickly a herd can turn a lush pasture into “nothing left to see here.” 😆

Fresh grass, open fields, and happy cows! It was moving day for our cows and calves as they headed out to pasture. There’s nothing better than watching them kick up their heels and enjoy the fresh field after being ready for a change of scenery. A busy day on the farm, but one of the best kinds!

Pig of the Week: Meet Christine!

Say hello to Christine…a lovely young gilt who hasn’t had her first litter just yet, but she’s already stealing the spotlight. She was named after an employee at McNutt Enterprises, the folks who supply the sawdust that keeps our animals cozy and comfortable.

We’re excited to watch Christine grow and eventually step into motherhood…but for now, she’s enjoying life on the farm and all the attention that comes with being Pig of the Week!

Three little ladies from Kiwi’s latest litter have officially joined the crew! This time we went with a tropical fruit theme, and we’re loving it…meet Mango, Lychee, and Guava. Sweet, spunky, and already full of personality, these girls are soaking up farm life and keeping things lively around here.

From tree to timber!

We recently took down a tree on the farm and milled into lumber, turning it into a valuable resource for future projects.

Now we have a supply of high-quality wood on hand, seasoned and ready for whatever comes next… including required repairs after our pigs finish their latest “renovation projects.”

Feeling grateful and celebrating a win!

Our amazing staff member, Michelle, won a beautiful gift basket from Top Shelf Feeds at the Islands Agriculture Show. We’re so thankful to Top Shelf Feeds and the Island Agriculture Fair for supporting local agriculture and creating opportunities like this to connect, celebrate, and give back.

And of course… we think Michelle is pretty amazing too!
