Shady Acres Farm We have pasture raised poultry raised on our small farm 10 minutes from Cranbrook. They are driven only by their internal circadian rhythms.

Whether you are making a Roast Chicken dinner or BBQ chicken breasts, Shady Acres Pastured Chickens are the perfect main dish for your meal. Using ethical and sustainable practices, along with wholesome, non-medicated feed, our birds are raised on fresh pasture (aside from a few short weeks in the brooder) their entire lives. OUR METHOD

These birds spend their days scratching, grazing, lounging and running around in the open air. The birds get up at the crack of dawn and are often asleep before the light fades. They have unlimited access to high quality, non-medicated feed for a 12 hour rotation. When fully grown, they are humanely processed and package on site. Ready for pickup at days end.

OUR METHOD

Every day, early in the morning, the chicken pens are moved one length up the field onto fresh grass. Small insects, flies and new tender shoots that the birds love, fill the undergrowth. Each pen accommodates around 50 birds, with just under 2 sqft/bird. These birds spend their days scratching, grazing, lounging and running around in the open air. They are driven only by their internal circadian rhythms. The birds get up at the crack of dawn and are often asleep before the light fades. They have unlimited access to high quality, non-medicated non-GMO, Soy and Corn free feed for a 12 hour rotation.

When they are grown, the chickens are processed on site and packaged ready for pickup at days end.
