Cardamom buns: one of those things I want to make all the time, but absolutely should not make all the time.

These are from a NYT Cooking recipe from Fabrique Artisan Bakery in NYC, and they test my self-control in a way few baked goods can. Warm, buttery, cardamom-y… I mean, come on.

Also: I used the FinaMill Battery Spice Grinder I got as a gift from my family to grind the decorticated cardamom and wow. Cardamom can be a bit of a beast to grind, and this made very quick work of it.

Anyway. There are cardamom buns in my kitchen now which feels both excellent and problematic.

These turkey meatballs came together in minutes thanks to Nox Blackened Seasoning. (Our summer collab with .)

454 g ground turkey
1 tsp Nox
1.5 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp mayo (optional /as binder)
½ tsp Dijon
½ tsp salt (optional)

Combine everything and form into meatballs. Air fry or bake at 400 until done (reads 165 on thermometer) - time to cook varies based on meatballs size.

We teamed up with Good Grief Coffee and something bold is brewing. 🌑 Say hello to Nox — our collab blackened seasoning with espresso-roasted Brazilian coffee, smoked paprika, and savoury spice in the most delicious balance!

I used it in a quick marinade for steak and… wow. Hands down my new favourite way to enjoy steak. Charred edges, juicy inside, and such a fantastic grilled steak flavour!?

This delicious Pear & Smoky Cheddar Soup has a kind of Goldilocks quality to it. While it’s not like a rib-sticking hearty pot of stew, it’s also not a bright, herbaceous sipper. It’s not creamy. But it’s also not brothy.

And thanks to the pectin in the pears, the texture has this robust and silky quality with a slight fruity flavour. The cheddar and smoked paprika give it a kind of comfort-food satisfaction. The combination seems “just right” for this time of year.
