🐥🐥The flock has landed! Animal integration is one of the principles of regenerative agriculture that we put into practice here at the New Farm Centre. These turkeys and chickens will soon be roaming the pasture, adding nutrients to the soil and providing food. And yes, they are also arguably the cutest part of our farm tour!

This morning, with the help of an amazing group of volunteers, we planted a mix of persimmons, apples, mulberries, and thornless honey locusts in the newly-established silvopasture. 🐄🌾🌳

Our herd of cattle will be rotationally grazed among the trees and forage - a system which will in turn increase biodiversity, improve soil health, and sequester more carbon, all while providing food and shade for the animals.

Keep an eye out on our socials for future volunteer opportunities at the New Farm Centre!

Farms for Change is run in close partnership with our friends at Right To Food 🤝 All proceeds from the annual Farms for Change event go to providing local, organic produce to communities in need.

In 2025, the Farms For Change program reached 36,000 families through 32 Good Food Organizations across Southern Ontario. Through the program, we distributed:

➡️ 50,000 lbs of salad mix and vegetables
➡️ 7,500 lbs of pasture raised pork and chicken

🎉 Farms for Change is on June 13 — our 17th year of joining together in support of a good cause!

The farm crew have been hard at work preparing the fields (and putting our new no-till drill seeder to work 👀), waking up (and fixing up) the greenhouses, and setting up our animal areas (hello egg-mobile)!

Each piece plays a role in a thriving, regenerative system, and Spring is where it all begins to take shape.

The team has been busy gearing up for another full season at the New Farm Centre 🌱

We see the Centre as a gathering place for change-makers - policymakers, farmers, corporate teams, eaters, and more - to learn, be inspired, and explore what regenerative agriculture can look like in practice.

Behind the scenes, we’ve been deep in planning mode - developing this year’s tours, educational programming, and on-farm events designed to bring people closer to climate-friendly farming in action.

We’ve got a passionate team ready to welcome you onto the farm, and we can’t wait to share this season with our community.

Stay tuned for our next post, where we’ll share what the farm crew has been up to 👀

For this year’s , we wanted to take a moment to recognize the amazing volunteers that make Farms for Change possible!

More than 150 generous humans come together each year — chefs, bartenders, ticket takers and sellers, parking attendants, tech crew, and so many others — all donating their time and energy to bring this night to life. Many return year after year and some have been with us since the very beginning!

We are endlessly grateful for each and every one of you. We can’t wait to be back on the farm together this year!
