Spring is always a whirlwind, but moments like this completely ground us. ✨

Earlier this season, residents from the Crossfield retirement lodge visited the greenhouse to pick up some flowers and veggie starts for their garden.

It quickly became so much more than just a pickup. We got to stand around, talk shop about farming, and share a mutual love for watching things grow. My daughter (pictured here) was right in the middle of it, helping pick out special flowers just for them.

Connecting with the older generation in our community is an absolute gift. Seeing the smiles on their faces as they chatted with her was the absolute best part of our spring. Thank you to everyone at the lodge for blooming where you are planted and letting us be a part of your journey this year! 🌼🥦

When you get your 4 year old daughter to help you video blog about Celery....

I found more joy in her natural way to talk to the camera and ask me questions like a reporter versus the actual information I gave 🤣 She's a pro! I swear I didn't script her haha

🌱🥬But if you want more information about growing Celery... In this video I am sprinkling diatomaceous earth and sulphur. These are natural to the earth and it helps deter & get rid of slugs. (They are the biggest pest to celery- especially in wet rainy seasons).

Next I am covering the celery with h**p straw to help keep moisture, block some weeds & create a mound. By creating a mound it actually helps stretch the celery up to reach for light, so you get nice long stalks.

Garlic scapes!! 🧄🌱
They are absolutely delicious.if you don't know, let me get you in the know! They are most fresh and best garlic taste that is almost better than the bulb.

Goes great on anything! Eat them plain, cook like asparagus, mix them in a stir fry, cut them into butter, make a garlic pesto...anything you put garlic in you can use these the same.

👩‍🌾And if you are growing garlic yourself...make sure to cut all the scapes off. This will ensure all energy goes into growing the garlic bulb so you get full and large cloves. 🧄
