The cruise is over but the adventure is not! After a night in Anchorage at the (gorgeous room and well situated!) I hopped on the and made the long journey up to Fairbanks! Took a bit of a step back from all the luxurious stays and spent a night at a hostel!

Cruise day #7! Bid farewell to the Nieuw Amsterdam! Then a quick visit to another glacier at Portage Lake (Portage Glacier!) before making it to Anchorage! Wrong time of year, but I did check out the Mushing District (even though I don’t care for the Iditarod anymore), and the Anchorage Museum (HIGHLY recommend! It’s a great museum!) Some halibut and chips with a local cider… a bit cathartic after the long journey. I really never could have imagined myself taking a cruise but it was so great! I met so many interesting people, saw so many great sites, and felt so completely spoiled by all the crew members. Great job and until we meet again! 🫡

Last full day cruising, day 7, College Fjord. It was actually pretty miserable for much of the day… perfect opportunity to get caught up on homework and check out the cake event! But don’t worry, I left room because I booked myself a table at concept, Morimoto By Sea! (And if you know me, I was fangirling a little getting to dine at his restaurant, even if the man himself wasn’t on the boat). Lychee martini, toro tartare, takoyaki sushi, lobster pad Thai, and dark chocolate with salted caramel and marshmallow. I was stuffed and it was so worth it. Hard to beat the view of glaciers while dining! (And in case I forgot to share my room, here’s how it looked before I lived in it for the week!)

Cruise day 6 was all about glaciers! Cruises around Glacier Bay and saw a whole bunch of ice! Everyone was well bundled up… I was cozy reaping my Borealis sweater ( ) tried out a pastry at breakfast to go with my daily dose of salmon (seriously, salmon every day for breakfast, I loved it), did some homework with a view, then ended the day with ice cream on deck while everyone else was bundled up or hiding inside 😅

Cruise day 5, Skagway! Going to leave the original audio so you can experience the sounds as well as the sights. Did somethings I missed last time I was here. Started with a tender from the boat (instead of walking off the boat we boated off the boat), I went for a train tour (LOVE trains, btw! 🚂)( )up to the Whitepass, checked out the gold rush cemetery, visited lower Reid Falls, saw a VERY blue bird, then took a long hike to see Upper Reid Falls! Bit of a theme of the past couple days… I did jot@proceed to hang a right and head home, but instead hopped back in the boat for a couple more days of cruising!

Cruise day 4 was Juneau! Grabbed an iced chai (with blueberry flavour… crazy but delicious!) at which kind of thrilled ...

Cruise day 4 was Juneau! Grabbed an iced chai (with blueberry flavour… crazy but delicious!) at which kind of thrilled me! (ikyky ), took a tour out to meet a cute dog named Zadie, and there happened to be a glacier there too (Mendenhall glacier!) and bonus waterfall. (Did not have the salmon donut…) Bought some lemonade off some amazing young entrepreneurs! I then proceeded to think I was going for a quick hike (first map) which turned into a very LONG (but SO gorgeous!) trek up a mountain (second map) until I found an old mine camp ruin, had the crap scared out of me by a porcupine, then came back! Had a not-salmon donut and fruit smooothie for dinner and ended my day with a DELICIOUS cocktail in the crows nest lounge while I watched us shove off for our next adventure!

Cruise day 3 (Tuesday) was Ketchikan! Started my morning with some breakfast in my room (had to try it at least once!) Then off to shore! Saw some sweet, sweet taxidermy squirrels, totem poles, had a quick walk on the edge of the rain forest, saw a salmon ladder, and the cutest little red light district ever! Creek Street is just that, a street built over the creek. Like our boardwalks at home, the sidewalks are docks high over the creek! The museum was amazing, and I really enjoyed that display of the difference in the rings of old vs new growth! Ended the night with some critter watching (hard to see but there were porpoises!) and a gorgeous sunset!

First evening (day one) and day two of my cruise! Got myself a mani pedi with a view! Checked out the stage for a little while, then stayed up late to watch a movie (volume up and name that movie!!! Whoever chose the options on this boat had a GREAT sense of humour!). Day 1 was all about cruising. I started off with smoked salmon (and every morning… hah!), soaked up the sun, and checked out the fitness centre (12 treadmills with the best view on the ship!). Wrapped up the day with the Captain’s welcome aboard toasted 🙂

Before we jump into the cruise… May happened! I can’t get over how fast things change. The Yukon was still frozen at the beginning of the month, I was hanging with two dogs in town… then after a quick adventure at the farm, and a quick bit of training in Vancouver, I’m wrapping up the month on a boat!

And for my next trick… 7 days along the pacific coast / Alaska! Enjoy the original audio in all its glory!
