Grateful for another LOOP Family Farm pickup. Matthew was all smiles helping sort veggies and fruits for the animals, even in the -10c chill. Blessed to steward what we’ve been given and share it around the farm 🙏🥰

We’ve always raised animals to help support our family and keep costs down while doing ministry. But this year is a first for us… our freezers are completely full! Since we don’t have the room to store them, we’re selling a few of these piggies.

The black ones are already spoken for, but there are others available.

Tonight was supposed to be a quiet, cozy family dinner. Desiree had worked in Fort St. John all day, and I had slow-cooked one of last year’s piggies into the most tender pork roast, paired with crispy cheesy baked potatoes and fresh greens. It was delicious!

But just as we were leaving the table… Bryston comes tearing inside yelling, “THE PIGS ARE LOOSE!”

And so began the Great Backyard Rodeo of 2025. Two 125-pound pigs, not the slightest bit hungry, running laps like they’d just been set free from Alcatraz. Food bribery? Failed! Calm reasoning? Ignored! It took the entire Wisekal crew (and some questionable running form on my part) to finally wrangle them back into the pig pen.

Pigs settled for the night, we figured that was enough excitement. But Anna decided, “Why not saddle Classy and go for a night ride?” Next thing I know, she’s halfway done tacking up the horse. Soon everyone’s riding under the evening sky, Grandma shows up for a surprise visit, and the fun continues as new laughter fills the yard.

Life out here isn’t always calm, but it’s always blessed. Thankful tonight for family, adventure, and the God who gives us joy in the middle of every unexpected detour.

The freezers hum tonight, filled to the brim.
Four cold chests whisper of God’s provision, each one a reminder that His blessings are not just spiritual, but tangible.

Two weeks ago, we brought in one of our pigs, a 450-pound testimony to hard work and His faithfulness. From the muck of the pen to the quiet of the freezer, it all tells the same story: God provides!!

“Every good and perfect gift is from above.” (James 1:17)

We do not raise these animals because it is simple. We do it because it shapes us, teaching patience, resilience, and gratitude! It feeds our bodies and our spirits, and it keeps our family close, serving Him and one another.

As we watch three more sows and a boar grow through the seasons, we will keep giving thanks! For the land, for the lessons, and for a Father who provides in ways we can taste, see, and share.

From coop to kitchen, this was dinner tonight. A chicken we raised and processed together as a family last year 🐔❤️

We may not have a lot of extras, but we’re rich in the things that matter. Tonight we feasted on farm-raised goodness from our own backyard, seasoned in a homemade Greek marinade and roasted to perfection.

Grateful for this land, the work of our hands, and the faith that holds it all together.
