Last night’s garden walk through was the best kind of surprise — tiny green leaves popping through the soil everywhere. 🌱

Did you know not everything needs to be started indoors or transplanted? Some vegetables actually thrive better when they’re seeded directly into the ground. Less transplant shock, stronger roots, and happier plants from the start. Saskatchewan growing season may be short, but once that soil warms up, things take off fast!

🫑🥕💧🌩 Spent the whole weekend finishing planting before the Saskatchewan storm rolls in.

Honestly, prairie storms might be chaotic, but the garden loves them. One good rain and suddenly everything starts growing like crazy. Now we sit back, wait for the storm, for the magic to happen.

Happy Wednesday! 💧🫑🥕🥔

Watering your garden by hand every single day gets old fast… so we finally decided to invest in a drip irrigation system, and honestly, it’s been a game changer.

We put together a little look at the setup we’re using, what products worked for us, and why irrigation is one of the best things you can add to your garden — especially during those hot Saskatchewan days.

Not only does it save hours of watering, but it also helps keep your plants watered more evenly and consistently. Definitely one of those “wish we did it sooner” projects.

All irrigation products we used can be found at your local Southern Irrigation.

Watch along, and if you have any questions about setting up your own watering system, send them our way!

Meanwhile behind the scenes, we’ve been doing a whole lot of seeding lately. 🌱

As exciting as it is to start early, Saskatchewan weather likes to keep gardeners humble. One day feels like spring, the next day there’s frost warnings and freezing overnight temps again.

Seeding too early can lead to poor germination, weak seedlings, or plants struggling before they even get a proper start. Cold soil and unpredictable temperatures can do more damage than people realize.

So for now, we’re watching the forecast closely, keeping things warm, and slowly getting ready for another growing season. ☀️🌱

Seeding season is officially underway 🌱

We’ve been getting rows planted and setting up drip irrigation to help give everything a strong start. Drip lines help keep moisture right at the roots, more efficient use of water and make those long summer watering days a whole lot easier.

Now we wait, water, and watch the garden grow.

Our 3rd garden plot is starting to come together. Made enough room for 2000 corn seeds. Now if this weather would cooperate for the next weeks maybe by the end of this month we can start planting.

Can you beleive here in Saskatchewan we had snow still melting last week?. And this week felt like summer. Getting so excited to start planting.

Our tomatoes, peppers and onions are doing amazing. But sadly the strawberries seem to not be doing so well.
